Gibson must love it, over the top punch towards the boundary every time. How many times did we actually hit a leading target inside 50? Maybe 2 or 3.

We didn't hit a single lead all night. Schulz's marks were kicks over the back.
I think we might have hit two leading targets inside forward 50 for the entire year.

Has anyone mentioned Sam Mitchell grabbing Ebert as he marked the ball, on his shoulder and dragging him down and then bugger me hits his head on the ground and is concussed.

I had a look at what happened on the screen. I couldn't really make out what happened. Will wait for the replay to come up tomorrow before I pass judgement on that.

28 free kicks to 30? I find that very difficult to believe. Even if it is right a lot of the free kicks Hawthorn got were right in front of goal or were unearned from us spoiling them. When a ball was kicked to a Hawthorn player the umpire seemed to make his decision that if he was spoilt it would be a free kick, and he made this decision before the ball even got there.
It may have helped if we had lost by 8 goals and then the umpires would not have come into it. There were at least two I can remember; one was when Gibson was grabbed after trying to escape with the ball and dropped it. That was right in front of our goal but was not paid. And one where Gunston grabbed Clurey (or O'Shea) around the neck immediately he grabbed the ball. That one was at the least a ball up as he was grabbed with no prior opportunity and made a valid attempt to dispose of the ball and it resulted in a goal to Hawthorn.
The quarter where they won it was the third but they had only extended their half time lead to 13 points when the ball was kicked to Boak who was about to mark but, as BornPort with superb sarcasm said, Hodge put his knee up to protect himself.
Steve McBurney's comments on the radio at mid-week look to have been listened to by Port, as they only had 55 tackles. Umpires should butt out and we might get proper games instead of the basketball we saw tonight.

Would love to see how many free kicks they got inside 50 and how many goals they got from those. Reckon they got about 5-6 in a row at one stage.

I reckon a lot of our free's came in the last qtr, and more so when the game was iced by the Hawks.

Another spectacle ruined by the umpires getting too involved. It wasn't why we lost but **** me, you don't pay those 50/50 ones right in front of goal for one team and not the other. Just put the whistle away you jerks.

The third quarter was not only awful skills wise but our structures broke down completely.

To be honest I'm not even that mad, just disillusioned. In the end I was actually finding some of the frees a bit funny. It's like they were so bad that they couldn't have gone unnoticed, but they probably won't be looked at because the commentators are pissweak and there's a gag order on coaches.

Hawthorn are dirty dogs, there's no doubt about it.

I actually thought Impey wasn't too bad. Took the game on. Amon, Clurey and Austin all settled as the game went on but were all soundly beaten by their opponents.
