Game Day Port IDDQDelaide vs Pwnedthorn

This game proves that it is extremely difficult to back up year after year. Port were destined after the 2014 pf late flurry to be premiers the following year. The reality check is that it is not easy to back up. Many clubs fail, hawthorn included (see 2009). Your mob are still rebuilding from a catastrophic 2010-2013 period. Patience is needed.

I screwed up by saying ninthmond too many times, now we're here. Which God do I have to sacrifice s furry animal to, to make things good again?

nice. great thing to say about a player playing tough football. Unlike charlie dixon :(
Hodge said after the game that he and Boak had a quick chat at the end and each agreed that that game was the way footy should be played. No hard feelings from our Captain or yours. :thumbsu:

I'm sure they'd both happily ensure that the only time a whistle was blown was when the umps farted too. Horrible, horrible umpiring.

Hodge has the right to go back with the fight and also protect himself at the same time. it was unfortunate that he got hurt but that it is footy.

Should have been a free kick to Boak for front on contact as Hodge waving his hands in the air was not a genuine attempt at a mark. He purpose was to take Boak out of the contest.

I think that one is genuinely debatable. I try to stay neutral and dispassionate in relation to umpiring decisions. I looked at that one really closely and think that Hodge did the best job possible to actually compete for the ball. He seemed to me to get his eyes back on the pill. You'd need to be in the review and up to speed with the umpires coaching to fully go through it, I think it was line ball. It's clear at least from Hodge's comment after the game that Trav didn't have an issue with the contact.

I don't have an issue with the contact either, as Since 2001 posted "that's footy". I've only seen it live "right in front of me" and while Hodge was at least looking at the ball when he made contact it did not appear to be a genuine attempt at a mark. In the overall scheme of the umpiring last night the non-payment of a free is neither here or there.

If "that's footy" it would be bloody great for us to get on the front foot and dish it out to those campaigners instead of always being on the receiving end.

Professional competition umpired by amateurs/incompetents. AFL can eat a dick still the morning after. I gave up caring halfway through the 3rd qtr because it was just doing my head in. For my own health I reckon I am gonna have to knock it on the head this season.

Simple really.. can't beat a side like Hawks with blokes like Clurey, Amon, Mitchell, Impey, Austin .. surprised we got as close as we did.

I said the same thing last night!

You can knee people as hard as you want in the ribs so they have to go off the ground. But don't you dare put your leg out to trip someone goes past.

Great Logic there.

I'd have Hodge on my team every day of the week, a great player and captain.
If he was in our team he'd be suspended for life for the constant sniping he does.

The rest of the year is about extracting some trade value from guys like O'Shea although I suspect he will probably be a straight forward delisting. Will Clurey make it? Amon?

It has been a horrible year but the positives have been DBJ, Austin and Howard. I think Impey and Neade have also developed nicely although Neade was quiet last night.

Complaining about umpires belongs in the Adelaide Crows forum, not ours.

The umpires got some right, some wrong, some against us and some in favour of us.

Tasmanian umpire Scott Jeffery was arguably Hawthorn's best player last night. Hawthorn are sponsored by Tasmania. o_O

Seriously though, some of the most baffling umpiring I have ever seen at any level.

ive always said ive never seen the hype about Clurey, at best he will be a solid defender and that's it

there is a underbelly of softness in the team and in the experienced players, how many times have we seen the team drop their guard for a quarter and never be able to recover, its a mentality

on paper we were very even and the home ground advantage should have got us across the line but once again when the pressure is applied by a decent team we crumble

Its where and when they're paid. Multiple in their forward 50 resulting in goals where we weren't getting any in return. When the bloke 10 metres away doesn't pay it but the bloke 35 metres away does, you know it's a farce.

Clurey is an elite runner, and he is, but that is all I really know about him - certainly nothing special about his skills and is average height.
