Greetings thin ones. My first post.

As I sit chewing a double choc tim tam, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in regarding possible power trading.

#1.
Port >> Chris Hall >> Kangaroos
Kangas >> Draft pick #26 >> Port

#2.
Port >> Cain Ackland >> Adelaide
>> Pick #51 >> Richmond
>> Wade Champion >> Richmond
Adelaide >> Brett Burton >> Richmond
Richmond >>Pick # 4 >> Port

#3. (only if Carr wants to go home)
Port >> Josh Carr >> Fremantle
>> Pick #35 >> Melbourne
Fremantle >> Pick #11 >> Port
>> Troy Simmonds or Jeff Farmer >> Melbourne
Melbourne >> Pick #29 >> Femantle
>> Scott Thompson >> Port

Trying to work out a 4 or 5 club deal involving Stenglein next

Agree. Though they aint all hacks most are young and josh carr is worthy. Though those trade ideas are ludicrous!

Trade #1 and #2 especially are ridiculous.

If you think you can give away two guys who don't play AFL + a worthless draft pick for the fourth best kid in the land then I am worried.

And Chris Hall is not worth anything near a second round pick.

Three players only Id be interested in

Salopek
Chaplin
Gilham

None have developed spots in your side, none are from SA, all first round but are yet to prove they are worth it.,so what would you think is a fair trade for them. Lets say the a Nick Stevens situation pop's up. What will you take, unhappy though you might be
What about Salopek for Thompson?

Mate I am a port supporter and that is bloody ridiculous --
#1 Chris Hall has absolutely no value and why th ehell would tha Kangas give up a handy pik for an average SANFL player !

#2 Ackland, Champion and pik 51 = pik 4 -- MATE your dreaming ..

#3 U sau we give up josh carr and get pik 11 and scotty thompson - cant see it mate

I like ur optimism but none of them are even close to possible

No.
Not just no, but unequivocally no.
No, as in that will not happen even in a billion years when both are fossiled and on display for hyperintelligent ants to study.

Hall and Ackland have no trade value.

Salopek, Gilham and Chaplin will only be traded for Barry Brooks style trades, or as part of a deal for an equally gun recent draftee from SA of the same type.

Lekkas + Pick 21 (i think its that) for Salopek????

No, and no. What part of `gun recent draftee from SA' was misunderstood?

Our squad is pretty solid in youth but has a lack of star players. Salopek looks to be one of them, so why trade him for another average player and a mediocre draft pick?

Please, please , please, please please, pretty please, pretty pretty pretty please - TAKE FIORA! We don't want anything for him, just take him back into the bosum of where he belongs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Porthos....
I don't know a hell of alot about him but do ppl over rate Salopek a tad?
How many senior games has he played this year and how much potential has he shown.
I think that the suggestion of Angelo Lekkas and pick 21 would be absolutely outrageous.
Lekkas will be a good pick up for someone if traded, was clearly not interested this season but was definately one of our better players over the past 2/3 seasons.
I could see him fitting in well at the Lions, possibly in a trade involving Tim Notting or Daniel Bradshaw (if the Lions are willing to let DB go as he would be a great full forward for any other side)

your thoughts pls

20 games in his first two seasons in what is apparently the third most settled side in the league. His 2003 season was cut short by a dislocated shoulder, his 2004 got cut shorter by a bout of glandular fever.

There are some rookies that struggle to play 20 games in two years at poor clubs.

I think that the suggestion of Angelo Lekkas and pick 21 would be absolutely outrageous.
What do you rate more highly - Angelo Lekkas and pick 21, or pick 5?

Salopek has regularly dominated at SANFL level, is only 19 and has had some handy AFL games with limited time on the ground usually playing in a forward pocket.

I find it funny when people start telling us that our youngsters haven't shown anything yet despite the fact that they have been in very good form in the SANFL. It's alot harder for young players to break into quality sides than it is for them to make it in bottom 8 sides. Salopek, Chaplin, Gilham, D.White, Pettigrew and Surjan are all very good young players who have only had limited game time due to the strength of our team, yet I rate them all as being as good as atleast first round draft pick level.

Port will not be trading Salopek or Chaplin. These two guys are not only very impressive footballers but also are potential leaders.

Would any other Port supporters think that a Gilham - Thompson swap would be fair?
I don't think it will happen, as Melbourne have a number of tall young defenders and one of them (Nick Smith) they took before Gilham in the same draft.

I just wonder whether Port would give up a young defender who IMO rates just behind Chaplin and Pettigrew, to secure another tough on-baller.

Gilham would probably be more attractive trade bait than Toby Thurstans.

I don't reckon they'd bite at either Thurstans or Gilham. If Melbourne have a need, its for players with decent AFL experience (but not over the hill), or blue chip youngsters.
