ayyy, that was good to watch. Really, barring the chariot ride given to Curnow and a couple of absolute howlers in front of goal, from Evans and Mitchy, we won that comfortably.

Sweet won the ruck, he got outmuscled a bit but he does compete hard and presents around the ground, too.

The tough inside mids, Wines and Drew, started winning the ball inside after half time, and kept Walsh and Cripps under control as well.

Bergman has settled the positional debate - he is a defender.

That result has thrown a few of the Victorian ladder predications askew!

Great win by the boys . They bullied us a little bit in the 2 nd but we managed to man up and stop Cripps and Walsh any freedom .
Must say some good preparation. Ratogalea up forward worked and the midfield mix was good with Wines and Drew both in the square on multiple occasions .
Sweet was quite good and probably won his position .
Wines , Drew and Boak were excellent.
Bergman was brilliant.
Allir and Zerk Thatcher were good and most players were fairly good .
Big for the season .
Go Port

Sometimes you get lucky. Carlton was missing a couple of players and so were we, but it turned out, I think, barring SPP, we stumbled on our best 22 for this season! We looked better balanced with just 2 talls in defence, Ratugolea helping Dixon and Georgiades in attack, Rioli back.

BERGMAN SHOULD NEVER PLAY IN THE WING AGAIN. THIS GUY IS OUR TOM STEWART. HE PLAYS HIS BEST FOOTY DOWN BACK. ALSO PORT DEFENSIVELY LOOKS AT ITS BEST WITH TWO TALLS AND A BUNCH OF MEDIUM DEFENDERS AS SUPPORT.

Came on here just to say that.
Bergman on a wing is dead. He's superb down back. His run and dash, over head marking and decision making is elite. Leave him there!

Really impressive win. To come from behind against a top 4 team away from home, and keep them to 1 goal for a half was a great effort!

Our midfield is much more balanced when Wines and Drew are in form. 22 tackles between them, and really nullified their inside game.

Bergman, Allir and BZT really dominated aerially and I thought we looked more potent with Ratugolea up forward as well.

Will someone tell the spazos at Ch 7 there wasn't a 7 day break vs 5 day break situation tonight.

We played a game starting 7pm ie 7.30pm EST last Saturday night at AO and Carlton's game started at 4.40pm EST last Sunday arvo at Docklands. Maybe running on the cement at Docklands 5 days apart had a bigger impact than an extra day's rest by Port.

Rats was the presence we hoped our Lord would be. Lord should get some form going in the SANFL. Marshal……get fit young man.

We desperately need another quality small forward.
