Training Pre-Season 2025 - The boys are back in town.

That sounds awesome to me. My hope is that we have 3 or 4 methods from a kick out.
For all we know, the point of the drill may have been to train defending against fast kick ins rather than training our own kick in method, but given we were pretty terrible last season at holding it inside our forward half from an oppo kick in, I’ll take either objective/outcome as progress.

It is heading to crunch time list wise for Davies. It's just a numbers game with Pearce, Ryan and Cox all young enough to have 4+ years left each and Draper having locked in the next man in spot.

I'm adamant Davies contested and actual defending work is elite and better than Draper IMO but he needs to cut down his cat 10 errors at Peel this season to once a month at most, rather than once or twice a week.
It’s not just Davies. These preseason threads are amusing because almost every player on the list is talked up at some point as a future “replacement” for someone or other.
The reality is that players like Davies are more unlikely than likely to be on the list in a couple of years time.
The numbers and churn in AFL footy just do not change.
6 or 7 guys will be moved off the list next off season, and 6 or 7 more then year after and so on. Same as it ever was.
If Davies surprises us all and overtakes Pearce or cox within the next year or two then great. One of them will be moved on instead.

Man I swear some of yall are just seeing what you want to see with Darcy. The only difference I can see is his moustache.

Same thing that happens every year. One photo he looks really slim the another photo two days later and he’s obese.

Nope, the change of size was very noticeable at training. I am sad to say I particularly took notice of him side on to check and there is no fat.

He will never have a Tracey body but it is clear he has worked hard before even pre-season.

Big change in only two months…

It's an interesting thought. Who are currently the six most-likely Freo players to not be on our list in 2026?

If I had to throw some darts, I'd say Fyfe, Walters, Delean, Jones, Worner and McDonald.

I'd agree with all of them you've listed, with McDonald and Worner the most likely to potentially extend, although not more than 1 of them I'd think.
Erasmus, Davies, Narkle and Aish would be in the next tier or thereabouts.

Brodie is also worth a mention, although he'll still be contracted.

I'm assuming no one knows, but any idea when they train next?

I called the club at the end of last week and the best I got is they will likely update the page on Sunday or Monday, which isn't that helpful when I was trying to see if they'd be training Monday to get down.

So far public training has been on each Monday and Friday from around 9:15, probably don’t need to get there until 9:45 as the first 30 is just a warmup.

But to be sure you need to check the Freo page on Monday.

Reidy possibly. He only got a 1 year deal, so if he doesn't develop a call could be made, and if he does develop, he may make a call

Darcy can’t churn out the laps yet but he is having a very specific program ( from a club provided biomechanic) to improve his core strength. The club have already said all this.

I very much doubt he will be too chunky this year going by his work rate and the very specific program he is on. It reminds of how Sandilands trained him when he first got to the club.

Hmm, I thought the opposite, with Knobel gone I am expecting he will get offered an early contract extension ( must say from today’s pictures he is in ripping shape)

Oh I think that is the most likely option too. But the reality is that he doesn't have that extended contract.

Reidy to play all pre-season games. Depending on the progress of Darcy post Christmas may even line up in round 1. It’s a fairly early start to the year.

If he shows improvement and good competitiveness in the ruck across Feb/March an extension is warranted.

Happens every year during the off-season. There's no games to watch but only photos to look at so it creates an illusion. Apparently every player on the list has their frame developed, they grow 20cm in height and put on another 10KG of muscle in 3 months.

I saw pictures of Amiss after reading comments on here and Lol'd out loud.
Dunno what you're talking about with Amiss his legs and shoulders are way bigger this pre season.

Think there’s almost no chance we extend McDonald unless Draper and/or Davies go significantly backwards. All the other KPDs are contracted for 2026.

It’s a decision between Aish and Worner IMO. I know who I’d rather play AFL footy for us in 2024. If that doesn’t change then I’m happy to roll Aish over on one year deals until we find someone else that’s ready to play 10-12 games over a season for us. Whichever one we keep is first man in of our of the small defenders are out and is a sub option.

Nah Amiss 100% has been working out those shoulders. He def has put on some size. Even Brayshaws arms look like he has added some size. Not sure about the rest though.

i would rather have Davies compared to Cox after his pathetic effort (or lack of) against Hogan

Lol.

Cox is very good when he's fit and there isn't a club in the universe playing Davies before Cox.
