bah. I was just in the process of editing my post. :D Yes Hille and Laycock would need to go on the long term injury list. If you rookie listed a ruckman (i'd be happy with Bellchambers or Renton) then you could promote them. However I doubt that either are AFL ready and would make an impact anyway.

A more likely scenario is that you have Ryder as a backup, much like we did this year.

I would be extremely surprised if Tom Bellchambers played senior football next season, regardless of whether he's on our senior list or not.

The guy would only last about a quarter before being burnt out almost entirely. He has a very low fitness base.

The same applies for just about any other ruckman we'll be looking at. They're either not ready physically or don't have the fitness base.

Ryder would be streets ahead as back up ruckman at this stage and we'd bring in a tall defender to cover for him if a ruckman is to go down.

beat me to it!

You cant draft a ruckman and expect many of them to be capable of playing next year anyway unless mature age.
Bellchambers fitness base is horrible and has been overrated by most on BF.
The undrafted ruckman who are most ready to play are Stefan Martin, John Shaw or Will Sullivan in terms of fitness, vertical leap and strength.
I have heard a bit about Wes Lammie but I have never seen him play.
If anyone has can they give a review of him.

In your opinion of course ;)

No,
His fitness base is horrible- data shows that.
Many on BF overrated judging by his position in mock drafts- me included I had him ranked at 54 i think.
Not sure the point you are trying to make here.

My reports tell me while the club recognises Bellchambers fitness base hasn't been great his improvement over the off season has been quite impressive.

Having read all of the discussion on here and BB it seems the PSD picks
and the Rookie picks this year are very speculative and the chances of
these picks becoming any good arent great, is it therefore maybe better
to opt for someone like Mulligan (could be nothing, or as posted could be a
freak if it all clicks) the same could be said about Smouha?
At this stage in our development do we really need other clubs rejects (Collard and Pfeiffer)?

Well maybe there is some sort of imposter Bellchambers who i was looking at at training last friday. The kid looks a million times better than he did when i saw him during the champs. He obviously has done a power of work since his last testing.

Makes sense - although we have had a lot of luck with Rookie's (MJ, NLM, Peverill etc)

I wouldn't be so convinced that Shaw and Sullivan are ready to play.

Shaw may have dominated the ruck at TAC Cup level, but he's only around 198cm and 90kg which means that he's probably not going to be enough of a physical specimen to adequately compete. Especially against the likes of Sandilands and Cox and even guys like Jamie Charman who like to wrestle.

I also feel that Sullivan is far from ready. His best asset is his tap work and he's a long way off competing with AFL rucks as I see it, I still remember McEvoy jumping all over him at the Champs. He's still looking for consistency as well.

I can't say I know too much about Wes Lammie either. All I've been told is that he's 19, fairly raw, but with a fair bit of potential. I don't think he'll be gracing AFL fields in 2008.

He is injury prone.

I agree he is most likley not up to it, but if everyone wants a ready made back up ruckman, he is a logical choice for a year or two on the list. Drafting an 18 yr old is pointless if ruck stocks for this season is the issue.

He is useless, injury prone or not, if a side like Collingwood who have Fraser imitating to trying to be a ruckman decide Richards sucks then that will do me. No more duds like Richards thanks!

I've seen Lammie play a few games but he is a family friend so any review may be a little biased
