I would think that you learned VAFA observers would not be making any predictions about who is going to be promoted until the final 4 is settled. Way too early to make even that call, let alone who goes to Premier in 2012.

As he is a learned VAFA observer I'm interested in his predictions unlike those of a non-learned VAFA Observer.

no not really, just had a feeling
was a good game

that loss and the oakleigh one will be critical at the end of the year
I hardly think a loss to the side sitting second on the ladder will be critical at the end of the year. What are you really saying, that you don't rate a side that has only lost 3 of 12 matches?

dear goi
thanks for your support
your positive comments give me reason to log onto this site every now and then
last 3 games
oakleigh- leading by 5 points with 20 seconds to go, free kick to Oak FF on the 50m line, lose by 1 point.
Beauy- won by a goal or two in a good close game
skobs- hard fought game, didnt realise the school ground was so narrow. Young fella edgar going to be a star for skob. Very disappointed with a few things on the day but they won and we didn't.

once again, thanks for your support
Brisa, I think Murph is alluding to something here - I don't think he was talking about missing out on the luncheon. From what I've seen it was a top standard game.

Can anyone tell me how Beaumaris with 21 players according to match results ( http://www.sportingpulse.com/round_info.cgi?a=MATCH&fixture=123350901&c=0-3232-0-137886-0&pool=1 ) and Luke Slater playing both Seniors and Reserves managed to beat Uni Blacks?

The Sharks won because they are a good side and they play an exciting brand of footy - they lost a player to injury before the game, thus leaving them with 21 players - Slater had to come up. The Sharks also kicked 7 points to start the third term - so once again they dominated, but kept a side in it with poor conversion. A lot of St.Bernards people are talking about missing opportunities with Oakleigh and Skevs - but they were lucky against the Sharks who kicked 2.11 in the second qtr. Do the sharks dwell on it, no, you show character and you move on and get the win the next week. It just shows, you win some, you lose some, but the key is to take your opportunities. Each side has games they think they should have won, but its just the eveness of the comp this year - anyone can win on their day. You only need to go to sleep for half a quarter and a side can pile on a wining lead. For the record, I think the 4 will remian the same as it is now (even with fluctuations over the next few weeks) And its a bit of a no brainer that Marcellin and Hampton Rovers will be in C grade next year.

Leathal, you will see that Brian is the only whinger on here. He pipes up when someone mentions they should have beaten SKOB's like it's a ridiculous comment if you think you can beat them.

And yes Brian, we get that SKOB's have injuries, you don't have to bring it up with "subtle" remarks when tipping or reporting on games.

Hey Murph, can you tell us all what made you post on Friday night that you guys would beat SKOB?

I hardly think a loss to the side sitting second on the ladder will be critical at the end of the year. What are you really saying, that you don't rate a side that has only lost 3 of 12 matches?

You will prove nothing if you beat a side with 14 regular seniors players missing, M Gino the latest out.
Lots coming back soon, I hope.....

Excellent game of footy at St Kevin's yesterday, both sides had a real crack. St bernards good enough to make finlas, St Kevin's getting plenty of games into their young players for the future.

Gee, SKOB to cop St Bernards on a Bullants bye again, not fair!

Accurate my arse. SKOB have played 45 in the seniors this year and still sit second. No Dowd, Simpson, Chivers, Keogh, Marchesani, Giansiracusa's plus around another dozen of our best side.
Happy to be on 30 points, a mighty effort all things considered, can only get stronger from here.

SKOB in a close game, working their way back being led by their Under 19 boys.

Sorry Im late, picking Hampton to beat the SKOB reserves today, Beauy, Brighton, Caulfield, St Bernards.

No excuses at all, I'm sure every team could cover the extended loss of the State Captain, 6 VFL recruits, an ex AFL rookie listed player and an ex AFL player! Throw in Gabelich who is out for the year and it's all rosey at SKOB!

CC, no quick kills in B when you have half of your best 22 out, including B Dowd who hasnt played since going off at half time v Old Ivanhoe.

Stop carrying on!

HOLD THE PRESS a news release by the great man Barney on the Leader website, and I quote "Hampton Rovers coach Russell Barnes said last week the return of Carr, Turner and Terech would steer his side away from relegation from B Grade"

OMG - could this be the most outlandish statement ever in relation to the VAFA or is the great man working up an impossible finish to the season.

Ok, now lets check the fixture, if St Bernards are on 5 wins then HR would have to win at least 5 of their remaining games and Snowdogs go winless between now and end of year.

Hampton play:

Oakleigh (50/50)
Beaumaris (30/70)
Marcellin (50/50)
St Bernards (30/70)
Caulfield (0/100)
UBlacks (30/70)

mmm, I want to be on board Barney but I just don't know how you are going to manage it, I can't see you winning more than 1 or 2 games at the most between now and end of the year but I'm sure your comments will reverberate with all clubs on 5-6 wins.

What you need though is for all HR posters on BF to get behind the club and pick them to win, wouldn't want to exhibit any unfaithful supporters/officials in your golden quest.

Good luck!

CC

Just when you think a bloke might've grown up a bit, he starts the childlike posting again.

Childlike post?, what are you on about big fella, your coach has made an outlandish statement in the press (please read before coming on here please) and I'm trying to work out what basis his comments may come from. Will those three players deliver 5-8 wins for you over remaining rounds - HR won a number late last year so who knows.

About time you get that big chip off you shoulder Micky.

Anyway its like having the mother-in-law come to visit, you know its all going to end soon and she will pack her bags and go home, so best to keep it quite until the door closes and then we will have a crack.

Hows ya mate Hyphen-5 going, out of jail yet for stealing that lolly off that poor little kid?.
What a MRN

Doesn't take much to rile the kids these days....

While it's still a mathematical possibility I think it was a fantastic initiative by Barney to get on the front foot as he did. He didn't ask to be called up by the local reporter, but good on him for being available to give them a quote - particularly on the back of the season we're having.
Some big ins for the club this week should see another much more competitive performance. Who knows what the rest of the season holds? It ain't over til it's over.

Matt Terech, are you kidding me? Wouldnt get a game in most B grade sides. Who's the other guy mentioned, never heard of him. Carr is good but come on Barney, you are destroying any cred you had by making that ridiculous statement. Marcellin beat you guys by 100 plus remember!!!!!!
Heading to D2 with a torpedo.

Well Hello...

I have said the same thing - never put him down for his comments even as outlandish as they may appear to some people (not as outlandish as your presidents egg-in-the-face comments on the VAFA umpire dept recently), in fact tried to mathematically see the challenges against the comment.

don't be so precious.

lethal i didnt mention the beauy game
beuy lost the game in that second qtr... i agree
was talking about the oak game when we led by 5 points with 20 seconds to go and lost via a dubious AFL style free kick on the 50m line (yes they had been paying them all day so not the umps fault).

and im the only bernards person who has posted on here about missing opportunities, brian is skob, cardio is everyone, GOI is GOI

and the couch is a SKOB man even though i went to the essendon school in yrs 7 & 8. Brian, are the skevs boys due to get some back from injury for the business end or are they playing a bit part? i've seen one game this year on my trips down from sin city at the blacks game at uni and skevs looked very sharp for 3 qtrs.would love to see them grace A grade again. Hopefully the snowdogs can turn it around and figure in finals as well.

Can someone please tell the Chief why we are talking about the Rovers.
We are getting to the sticky end of the season, and we are discussing the 1 most certain end result to this season. Thats Hampton will go down to C Grade. This isnt prediction, its fact that a winless side after 12 rounds cant win their last 6 games. Not going to happen. End of topic.
Theres more chance of Caulfield not making the finals, and caulfield making finals is the 2nd most certain thing.

So lets get back onto finals talk fellas.
The top 3 are settled, and they arent moving from there.
Theres a mini battle going on for second spot, which is extremely important for finals chance, as we all know one of the top two, WILL play off in the granny.

The other topic is for forth spot. Who has the easy run from here?
Beauy currently in forth, but you'd think theyd get toppled by old brighton this week, which throws a spanner in the works again.

My prediction is:
Caulfield - too far infront to catch.
Old Brighton - play caulfield the following week after caulfield play stkevins, caulfield might be sore for the second blockbuster? OB also play stkevins at home.
StKevins - Too many injuries to challenge caulfield THIS week, puts OB 2 points ahead, then they play OB away. Will come down to the game against OB for second.
Blacks - They are a yo yo side, on potential they deserve forth. Easy run home, they should make finals, and can surprise.

Where's Max Leader? Missing the banter Maxy, lift son!
OB and St Kev's play round 18, a lot of water to pass under the bridge before then.
Couchgrinder, their will be a few filtering back over the next month or so, although most of the established 'guns' are finished for the year.

Geez SKOBBERS have some injuries. Unlucky team this year has been SKOB due to injuries. All other teams have had full lists. SKOBS injuries have been full on!

Ok, now getting back to the important stuff....

havent Skobbs been unlucky with injuries! Probably would be above Caulfield if not for bad injury run.

SKOBS have definitely been unlucky with injuries 2011, similar to Old Carey in 2009 who would have been Premiers and Champions otherwise that year except they finished near the bottom because they didn't have the depth of talent required at the time. Some say, similar situation would arise 2011 if they lost a couple of their top 6.

Wrong thread but i think Carey's depth now is far better than then. They lost two form their top 10 arguably in the first three rounds, for the year, and one of their top 6 ; ex afl Matt Laidlaw , is yet to play.

What is your agenda???

Been away from the board for a while, so thought I would jump in here. We are starting to get a few injuries, but no doubt we will forge through them and come out of the other end victorious.
I 'scouted' the St Kevs v St Bernards game last week and I must say that the Octopus's remarks are uncalled for.
Apart from Lynch, Wissel and Dowd, I can honestly say I didnt know any of their players at all, amazing turnover.
St Bernards look to have the makings of an excellent team, however with Byrne playing half back, their mid-field looks pedestrian at best.
Looking forward to watching Brighton v Beauy this week, I wonder if the powers that be will actually wake up and man up on the Hendra Virus.

or HARDEN the F-up as he is known in close circles (think about it!)

For one of the more sensible posts of the year, please see "The Chief" at 9.30am this morning.

Accurate and to the point i say.
