Beaumaris by 7 goals+ v Old Ivanhoe,
Oakleigh by less than 2 goals 7 against AJAX.
Uni Blacks comfortably.
Old Haileybury to kick straight and kick too much for Werribee
Old Brighton (one of the best forward lines going around) too strong for the St Ks at Sportscover.

Think you got your teams mixed up, SKOB's have the best fwd line in the comp based on player class and by some margin, Black's seem to have the best spread of goal kickers.

Yes, D Anthony played on a first gamer from the Under 19's who did very well on him. Interesting to note that out of the carnage of SKOB players going overseas and injuries that Harf today played 10 boys aged 19 or under, so a great result for him and the club.

Well done boy's the only club playing 19's.... ohh and dont forget the injuries....

Based on my viewing the Blacks certainly have the most strength down there. They were unstoppable that day at TH King. SKOB may be suited by the bigger ground. Give the the players space to run into ... think Carlton with their quick small forward line. I would think most sides would have at least 2-3 under 19s playing however certainly the most youngest I have ever seen in a SKOB senior side. Didnt recognise half the team to be honest. Cosmo, Rah Rah, whoever what are Briiighton tech's chances of grabing 4th spot from OMs, reckon the top 3 are now assured. Probably in the order the currently sit.

4th spot is very interesting (It hink your right the top 3 are set), not too sure about OB away from home but then OM's must have been budget last week? If you look at the last 4 - 5 weeks maybe OM's just hold on? Will prob come down to round 16.

Where is Max Leaders run down from the weekend's game?
Surely the two's kicking a poultry 0.2 and the seniors 4.4 requires some serious questions being asked. (Lucky they kicked 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of the ones or it was going to be a very dry day on the scoreboard)
Are they likely to do the "double drop"???

The 2's were terrible never seen such a rubbish effort, didn't watch the whole game but the 1's looked good early and I was very surprised when told the final score (Fitness?). Does anyone know anything on the verbal between supporters at 3qter time?

First of all, Phil Edgar is a class above anyone else regarding mobile smalls. Parkes looks a better option than last season's McDermott but a bit worrying just 10 goals return from the 5 games against the sides in the Final Four (at the moment) although did slot 4 against Beaumaris recently. For St Kevin's sake I hope Elliot Waldron is back because you can't offer up wafer thin Hobson in a ruck in a final and expect that he is not going to get jumped all over. To St Kevin's guys, the side looks very similar to last year - the older stars and a lot of young chaps who over the duration of the season (same as 2011) are found to perform better than the top-up reserves.

I guess one question - where did guys such as Mark Stafford (27) and the Newman's from last year go? Are they just lost to the game, overseas or studying or ...

The 4 against Beauy weren't amazing couple of interesting frees, one crumb goal off the pack (out the back) and one good leaded up mark / goal, still think he is a very hard match up and you need to send your best defender to him which opens up someone else...

I do like how St Kevins give him every opportunity when they get a free kick at half-forward in the hands of an experienced player, leaving space (opposite side wingman out / players lined up in line of the goal) for him to run on to the kick, starting from the goal square and snagging a mark from in front.

Boys,
Yes we are struggling. We are having a year that most go through.
We recruited the selectively but well:-
State Under 21 Captain
Woodrow Medalist
SANFL Senior player

But when you lose 3 players who kicked 135 goals between them. (Two retired and one playing soccer)
You lose 1st (retired), 2nd (retired) 3rd (overseas) & 4th (returned to his original club in d4) best and fairest.

On Saturday, our reserve team did not have one player from last years grand final losing team.
The Senior team has 6 boys who were under 19's last year.

The club has not had a mass exodus to other clubs (other than under 19's players). Players, coaches and officials are being as positive as possible.
We are looking forward 2013.

For the record, we entered B Grade in 1996, and made A Grade in 1999. We held the record (until st.Bedes) of being the 1st Club ever to play finals in their 1st ever year in A Grade. We played A Grade finals on two separate occasions. We have had a State Captain, Woodrow and Jock Nelson medalist. Significant no. of State Players. When we played the Country teams, it was OI that the VAFA raided to match the big bodies of the VCFL.

With regard to the verbal altercation. I wasn't there, but if clubs are having a go at the "Boys in Brown", our supporters will be as passionate as any going around.

It looks like our time is up in Premier B. We will be back. Double drop. No way. Seen enough of C Grade this year to say. We will be OK.

All Premier A and B clubs should be dissappointed that we are going to Premier C, as your guys miss out on the best (by a country mile) afternoon tea.

Max C Leader

Thanks Max

Proud and Passionate as usual.

They will also miss out on the most picturesque ground and grand clubrooms as well

Chin up old boy, you will dominate C next year no problems there as there is a massive divide between A-B-C, just ask our friends at Caulfield.

Cheers

CC

I guess one question - where did guys such as Mark Stafford (27) and the Newman's from last year go? Are they just lost to the game, overseas or studying or ...

I believe Stafford is playing cricket this year instead.

Geez, the one week I head overseas and this board fires up again! BTW, 35 degrees and stinking hot here in Shanghai.

SKOB to me are not the force yet that they promise to be, I predict a long run of success coming up, whether its this year or in the next few, massive amounts of junior talent coming through the school system, never been stronger at SKC so should be fun.

Good to see Beauy up there but Im concerned that they couldn't shake off a weak SKOB team 2 weeks ago, Blacks look the goods to me at this stage withr eithe Beauy or SKOB to play off.

Stahfford in the VIS cricket squad, SKOB lost a tonne pre season, but really it allowed the young guns to get their opportunity quicker, guys like Stafferi, Parkes and Shanahan will be very good players. As far as Parkesy goes, ease off any criticism, when was the last time an 18 year old came straight in and kicked 50 odd by this stage of the season? Answer is not in a bloody long time.

Max, it's just the cycle, happens to all clubs, look at Collegians, hang fat.

Beauy were at full strength?? Sorry that's right SKOB are the only team with injuries and players overseas!!

I don't want to rain on your parade Maxy, but the mighty Bulleen Templestowe team of 1984 finished 3rd in our first year in A grade. It was only 8 years after after we entered the competition in F Grade.

HBF,

Shite there goes that theory. Just adds to the crappy year we are having.

Why the big exodus all in 1 year? Internal issues? Coaching issues? Or just an unexplained phenomena?
Do you expect any of them back next year?
Also, is this the 2nd year without U19s? If so, that will make it harder to stock up on numbers for C Grade in 2013.
Good luck

Just one of those years.
No issues with anyone (except a blind goal umpire). Functions are very well attended, record year for Auction Night.
Like most clubs we expected all the older players to play for ever and the younger players never to travel.
Had Under 19's last year, and the previous year saw us win an Under 19 Grand Final.
Significant planning has gone into next year, but a strong Under 19 culture will be acheived to support the rest of the club going forward.

St Kevins (with a chance to rest a few players and spout about blooding some more U19s) over Old Ivanhoe,
Beaumaris
Uni
Old Melbourne
Old Brighton

After watching the athletics now back to the football:

Old Ivanhoe vs St Kevins
Old Haileybury vs Beaumaris
University Balcks vs AJAX
Werribee vs Old Melburnians
Oakleigh vs Old Brighton

spot on clint, i fancy these too old chap, though brighton technical college old boys may not enjoy the mud and will just scrape in. maybe the averagest forward line in the competition can just kick a winning score.
And I am not sure if Uni will Balk at AJAX, or if you just had a little typo? Irrelevant I guess. 80 pointer. And SKOB will win by 80 too. The only interest in the last 5 rounds will be on who finishes 4th.
