Well well well.... the hard slog of preseason and practice games is almost over and we are soon to be into the real stuff! I think we will see 1 stand out team and a relatively even grade besides that.

My tip for the flag is Williamstown and to round out the top 4, in no particular order is Marcellin, Old Mentone and Old Camberwell.

Agree with the one stand out team. I think there will be a bottle neck of up to 6 teams challenging for 2-4 position.
I’ll go Willy for flag, Marcellin, OCamberwell, Ajax with absolutely no confidence whatsoever.
Should be a close season I think. Isn’t great to have footy back?!

I’d think Ajax are at risk of a double drop and thought so before yesterday. My top ‘five’ tips in no particular order are Willy OI Marcellin Ormond Old Mentonians

Everyone needs to look at the last quarter replay. Deller missed the ball when he attempted to kick the ball. Just have a look at the expression on his face. He knew it. Just a very very bad decision by the goal umpire.

I think you may have said the last time we played you at your ground. 9 debutantes including 2 under 19’s and 4 From last year Unders. Extremely disappointed to let this one slip.

Injury to Chopper is bad, but he will be ok. Not a great way to make your debut for the Hoes.

I saw Marc v AJAX yesterday - and retract my top 4, I agree with you, AJAX will struggle to stay up, unless they have players to come back.
They tried their hearts out, but just undermanned and small. Some good players though, 9 Cohan looked good and kicked 3. #12 Simon, 7 Caplan and others in the best all showed a bit.

Marcellin without Jono B, JBorts and Viney look very young, but plenty to build on.

Haven't seen it yet, hope IO player is ok!

Checked out the video of W v OI last minutes, Deller clearly knows he missed it - rough call for OI players after what must have been a great game.
Tough gig being an ump in situations like that and they don't have the video like we do - lot of pressure in those circumstances. You an understand why OI players felt aggrieved. It's a bit like when batting and you smash it into your pads and get given out - just gotta go with the umpire's call.

How'd both teams look Max?

After the 1st quarter, OI played very well.

The club is benefiting from a solid 3-4 years of strong Under 19’s. From people who were there, they were very surprised by our performance given the age of the team.

I had my own issues at my game. Coaching is so much fun.

But to give up a lead like we did last year is not good enough.

We must learn to shut teams down.

Hearing from a cycling buddy that a prominent Ormond play has been given 2 by the Vafa for a push to a pegs player near the boundary, no one injured, player apologised which was excepted, but someone decided its worth 3 . Have seen players punched and only get 2 !
