Players still doing warmups

Jamo and Hutch walking laos
Waterman doing one on one work with a physio

Training kits have no numbers so trying to work out who’s who

Did notice JWill - looks in great shape

Fair effort from Jamo and Hutch. I mean Laos isnt a big country, but as far as training runs go its pretty solid.

Must've had some time off from building the huts.

Very light/low key session

Bit of work on ball movement (skills were a little rusty tbh) and a fair bit on tackling with a focus on technique. Some quite specific instructions from one of the assistants before one drill but couldn’t work out which one it was

As mentioned Jamieson and Hutchinson were working away from the main group and left very early. Ditto Waterman

Long and Hewett weren’t there as far as I could tell. The rest of the young players were there

Of the older players Gov, Cole, Hunt, Edwards, Cripps and Brockman trained

No particular standouts given the nature of the session but I really liked the way JWill was moving. Archer Reid looked quite fluent as well

And nice to see Rhett Bazzo out there doing a full session and moving freely

Took me a while to notice Harley who was wearing a bucket hat and looking pretty thick. Not fat, but will need to work on his tank over summer

Wes Walley was sitting on the bank in Eagles kit watching training for a while as well

The problem was that Simmo drafted him as a midfielder and Simmo had a very one dimensional view of what players roles should be. If you are someone he wants in the team, which Ginbey was, then you play in the spot he thinks is your best spot. Bailey Wiliams the CHF etc. If you are someone he thinks is 2nd tier, then he'll play you in a sacrificial role that hinders your development because he doesn't rate you anyway and you being on the list is only a temporary thing in his eyes.

Under Simpson, there was no HB spot for Ginbey to play at. Simmo was a Tom Cole man. It became clear over the course of 2024 that he wasn't coming on as a midfielder but once Hewett was out for the year I think that just put pressure on that it was make or break for Ginbey in the middle. When Schoey took the reins he moved Tom Cole further up the ground and put Ginbey in his natural position to build some confidence back in the kid and it worked a treat. He's obviously convinced McWalter to leave him there, and we have Hewett back so it's all worked out for the best.
This is a great summary of Simmos failure. Ginbey off half back and cole further up the ground shouldve been in 2023. Hopefully the sacrificial lamb, Chesser, finds his spot too.

Facts are that Simmo didn’t draft him. If you can’t get that simple fact right, then nothing afterwards has any meaning.

Sounds like Harley could do with a few extra sessions after training. Again. Where is bender when you need him?
