Lol i actually put money on for a draw that year...my theory was that both sides dont know how to win grand finals....the other factor was the last draw was 1977 and i thought a draw was due....quite funny that it eventuated....wish i had of bet more than 10 bucks

Sorry to intrude guys and OT, but funny fact re the 2010 draw.

AFTER 1966 win StK fans put a jumper on Tommy Bents statue at Bay St. Win
BEFORE 1997 he again got jumpered and we Lost.
BEFORE the draw Collingwood fans cheekily got to Tommy with a scarf, then Saints fans took in down and jumpered him. Draw
BEFORE the replay Tommy wore RWB all week and we got smashed.

Lesson don't f' with Tommy pre game.

Fully fit, he's the sort of player we could use right now. I think Varcoe will add a bit of spark to us this week.

And in news just in Freeman suffers another "setback" at training:

ST KILDA recruit Nathan Freeman’s comeback has been put on hold again after he suffered another minor setback at training.

But the Saints admitted there was some “relief” after his latest hamstring issue was not as serious as first thought.

Saints’ general manager of football performance Jamie Cox said last night Freeman had felt some “awareness” in his hamstring during a training session earlier in the week, but scans revealed no significant damage.

Cox said Freeman, 20, would miss at least one, possibly two matches as the Saints take a cautious approach with his comeback.

“He had some awareness a couple of days ago,’’ Cox said.

“Because there was no Sandringham seconds game, he was involved in a training session and pulled up a bit short in that.

I am truly shocked that something like this could happen with St Kildas magical medical department in charge. Shocked I say!

Hey Apex not to be a smarty pants but I am only saying this to get back on topic in the Freeman thread.

Witts is now officially 5 weeks out

Also back on topic is it wrong for CFC2010 to like a post on the St.Kilda board that said "que the trolls" re the person this thread is inspired by?

I can't believe they hadn't considered taking the cautious approach before. It seems so obvious now. I wish we'd thought of that when he was here, and he'd be a quadruple premiership winning, multiple Brownlow, Norm Smith, AA, BAFTA, Grammy and Archibald prize awarded footballer by now.

That's sad to hear but cannot believe they described it as 'awareness' with a straight face. Hard to imagine any club having bigger bullshit artists than our spin people but somehow they managed it

Yeah even with the infection explanation, 5 weeks is pretty ordinary for a simple split webbing.

Probably a bit wrong, but it's St Kilda so I forgive you.

I wish we'd taken a cautious approach instead of not playing him for two years!

St kilda supporters were sounding so arrogant but now they know our frustrations....in all honesty will be interesting to see what happens with him....even if he bever plays he has made alot of money....staggering

Yeah that was way too reckless. You just can't push new draftees like that.

In all honesty feel sorry for the kid. No surprise he took the safe contract. Will make almost a million out of football regardless if he plays a game. Sets you up for life!

Have there been many stories of blokes who literally never could get on the park? I cant remember any? He has 2 more years after this so maybe just maybe his body could hold up long enough to get a game.

Scott Gumbleton was a recent one that was cruelled by hammies i think. Not sure how many games he played.

OK I vote that we not use the expression "awareness" at our club when talking about injuries.

Ronda Rousey had a sudden awareness of her head, followed by a lack of awareness of pretty much anything at all for a while.

Yeah nah, it doesn't work.

(Love you long time Ronda)
