It's mind-blowing to me that this is probably the best chance we've had in the last ten years, but realistically our midfield is at its weakest point. Just goes to show you how important DEPTH and DEVELOPING YOUTH is. Or am I wrong about the midfield? I'm not saying it's bad. Just that it's been better in the decade past.
Maybe, but we have many more options to rotate through..

Promising update from Jez!

I know as fans we tend to see new recruits through rose coloured glasses when they get traded in, but I cannot fault any of the recent recruits (Smith for example), and Jezza has to be the pick of the bunch.
What a cracking, chilled out dude he is. And he can play!

I'm a firm believer that his attitude and the way he goes about his footy has rubbed off on our guys (particularly the younger ones, eg. Brad Close) and has contributed to the "revival" we have witnessed this season. Sounds cliché, but I think guys walk taller with JC beside them.

Yep, when CS was talking about Dangerfield and the attitude he brought onfield and off-field, my thoughts went to Jez. Danger was almost the blueprint and would have been a big sell for JC. Family man, fisherman, lives away from the fishbowl, has fun and mucks around and is an elite performer.

Both make us stand taller on the field.

I actually didn’t like this update, I had convinced myself he was just having some tightness or ‘awareness’ as is the lingo, but this sounds like there was a genuine tear there. So really he is line ball to play.
How? He said he’s fully clear with no pain..

Hamstring is always 21 days, and he will be right on 21 days. And with his history, you would normally er on the side of caution.

It is a pretty tight call for a non knockout final.

I don’t think he is clear to play yet.
I think a setback - which is not out of the question given his history - is the only way he won’t play.

I read it the other way. Hes good to go for the QF.

Was never in doubt - barring any unforseen problems before the GF. He's just playing along with the narrative.

I notice no one bothered to ask him if he'd actually done his hamstring - to which the answer is no. He went off the ground with tightness, and even Harry Taylor said they only picked up "minor low fluid levels" on the scan. At no stage anywhere has anyone from the football club (or Cameron himself) said that he had anything more than the slightest of strains, or low level awareness.

I got straight in. Have to change the url from hot4 to hot1
Did all of that. 2 of us were on before 12. Two computers, 2 phones. Closest we got was manually selecting standing room and 1 ticket. When selecting ‘best available’ for 1 ticket that one would disappear. Absolute debacle. Final straw for AFL membership for me. Full member since 1991 or so. Easier to get grand final tickets with the club support allocation than it is for these games.

To clarify we were able to ‘get in’, and were able to enter barcodes, but for every option (M open, Z top etc), it would say ‘no tickets available’. This was from 12 and we tried everything for an hour before going the Geelong member option.

That's really strange. Only thing I can think of is that the barcode numbers were wrong, because I got on right away at 12 and I could select any area (pretty much).

Like I could imagine that they would let someone log in but then see no seats available if they used the guest pass barcodes (which is stupid, but this the AFL/Ticketek we're talking about)

Guthrie, Parfitt, Danger, Selwood, Diuncan, Blicavs, Atkins, Menegola, Holmes, Smith-- fairly deep and good value imho

I gather on Twitter that it’s happened to a lot of people. Getting through but not getting tickets no matter what they select. Barcodes were correct as one of the three is a concession which pops up in the selection window. I dare say (which they’d not admit), that it was basically a system meltdown. There is no way there wasn’t 1 seat available at 12:10. But that is what the system was saying.

Why are we so worried about their forward line? Worry too much about it and the ball will live in their forward half.

That’s not our method.

We will load up our midfield, dominate clearances and physically impose ourselves on their smaller midfielders. We will play play Stewart or Tuohy on ginnivan. The outcome will be that he may get 1-2 cheap goals out the back, but the Cats will get 60% time in our half, 5+ extra inside 50s, 7+ extra intercept possessions. And Ginnivan will be ball chasing around the centre of the ground.

Not saying I’m not confident that we will win, but we need to be paying the likes of Ginnivan due respect. He will need an appropriate opponent. Bews probably the best option I think.

I don't know that it's at its weakest point for 10 years but we are missing an A grade midfielder in their prime, like a Petracca or Oliver. But perhaps our depth cancels that out, as Atkins is now in his prime, there are some youngsters adding speed in peripheral midfield roles, and none of our veterans have completely fallen away yet. If Menegola gets squeezed out, then while sad for him it's probably an indication our midfield is in pretty good shape compared to recent years.

Bloody Ticketek? I struggled to get two tickets together at the Gold Coast game on the Tuesday before and almost gave up. Then I sat in a reasonably crowded area looking at 10,000 vacant seats. A disgrace.

To any Collingwood fans in here, this was all hopium for Geelong fans. He has badly torn his hammy and will be out for the QF, my dads mates uncles carpet overheard him talking about it at the local chippy and he is likely to miss preseason as well.

A 'tear' given his history is more than 21 days. The fact that there was no ice on it when he came off indicates to me that it was just tightness..
