Ginnivan?
Ginnivan with 36 goals for the year is arguably just as much of a threat as Elliot with 23 goals for the year (albeit less games). Elliot however has kicked bags on us before and his clutch goals at the death over the last 2 weeks is a salient reminder on his capabilities to turn a game.

Bews/Zuthrie alternated on Ryan/Rioli on the weekend. MOC and Tuohy also picked them up at times.

The club clearly has some hard calls to make. Probably Zuthie and MOC can't both play. Zuthrie has the better disposal/rebound and is in very good form so more likely to get the nod it seems.

I’m getting flashbacks of 2019 QF1

Please cats, not again. For once have a good finals series, you’ve got my hopes up 🤞🏻

Rohan has more than a few mates when it comes to finals failures.

Why is it that a guy in our bottom 6 is the man who our finals chances depend on? If anything, Geelong of 2022 has shown that it's the collective and not about individuals when it comes to winning games of footy. This is one of the key reasons we've become a better team and why we finished top of the ladder.
Based on their consistent performance this year - it would be very hard to find a bottom 6 (which implies 3 layers of capability). We probably have 2 layers at the moment with 6 extremely good players and 12 very consistent players. Often players in our bottom 12 end up being best on ground depending on the game.

I can see the logic in that, but who actually gets Ginnivan?

Will depend on what teams both clubs select but id want something like:
Sdk-cox/cameron
Henry-Mihocek
Kolo-johnson
Bews-elliot
Tuohy/Duncan-mcreery/whe
Stewart-ginnivan

Would love stewart on ginnivan as if he pays tom no respect tom will carve him up.
Obviouslt matchups will rotate when they rest a ruck on the bench and when jdg goes forward etc. (Im assuming they dont pick henry in 22).

These matchups assume zuthrie and moc will get dropped.

This is the thing giving me confidence.

Other than Melb that kicked themselves out of it. They have had to pull rabbits out to beat bottom 8 teams.

They constantly lose the contested ball count but good on them they still find a way.

However if they go -50 against us they'll get belted

Put a big body like Touhy on Ginnivan. He'll have to earn every possession and will have to decide to go with him forward. If he decides to stay home have Mitch and Tom plug the hole.

I love Zuthrie but don't think they have a player for him. Maybe a WHE who is massively out of firm but I'd hate to put him into form.

Agree with nearly all that but I'd have Tuohy smashing Ginnivan right from the first bounce make him earn every touch.
LOL I can't believe we were typing basically the same responce. Stokey

Ginnivan?

Why are we so worried about their forward line? Worry too much about it and the ball will live in their forward half.

That’s not our method.

We will load up our midfield, dominate clearances and physically impose ourselves on their smaller midfielders. We will play play Stewart or Tuohy on ginnivan. The outcome will be that he may get 1-2 cheap goals out the back, but the Cats will get 60% time in our half, 5+ extra inside 50s, 7+ extra intercept possessions. And Ginnivan will be ball chasing around the centre of the ground.

No excuses this year, not going to get a better chance. We are the better team and have the form to really smash them. Just got to get the selections right and not s**t the bed under the pressure and I struggle to see how the pies get close
Agree. When the Pies have come back they have attacked the corridor. They won't get that chance with us. Our turnovers in the corridor have been one of our massive strengths. We never leave it open.

Saw this on On The Couch and had the same reaction.

6 wins in the last 8 weeks against bottom 10 sides all between 1-7 points as well as a comfortable defeat from Sydney.

We beat those same 7 sides by a collective 350 points this season. Collingwood won by a collective 36 points.

Based on performances/form, we should win and win comfortably.

Yeah you could swap the stewart and tuohy matchups i dont mind that.

I like zuthrie and on form he has a real case but the pies forward line isnt super dangerous i dont see a matchup that we need him for. Against coll i think the extra midfielder and extra forward (eg rohan or miers)is more critical so im squeezing zuthrie out. Our selections need to be brutal and no sentiment to give us the best chance of winning the flag.

Their record against top 8 sides is basically the weakest of the top 8 teams. Collingwood are good scrappers but unless we have one of those dumb geelong finals quarters where we concede a run of goals we should win and win very well.

They will maybe send a shutdown player to Stewart. Steelbottom?

Most of those teams have been beaten late as they hadn't known how to set up defensively behind the ball late in matches (the Essendon and Carlton games especially). I can't see us having the same issues.

Hope others are having success in getting tickets for Saturday twilight - I managed to hit the confirm button on my phone just as some customers were approaching

Bring on Saturday week...

Got 3 in m50.

Hopefully there’s a good contingent of Cats fans there, we need some noise for when we get up. 🤫

Pies fans are usually only really loud when there is a goal or a holding the ball decision. They can be subdued.

They aren't on the level of Richmond who are just mindless in their noise.

It's mind-blowing to me that this is probably the best chance we've had in the last ten years, but realistically our midfield is at its weakest point. Just goes to show you how important DEPTH and DEVELOPING YOUTH is. Or am I wrong about the midfield? I'm not saying it's bad. Just that it's been better in the decade past.

I went the cheapest option and got M3 behind the cheer squad - I know that tickets get more expensive as the finals continue, so I try to save money first up if possible
