2 points on that. We were lucky it was Q3 and we could adjust and run over them in Q4.
Also, it gives us a good look at how they get that run on. I’m sure there are some structural strategies we can (and did) employ but I feel a lot has to do with an emotive team with a feral crowd behind them. We MUST lock them down for a few minutes if they ever kick 2 in a row.

It seems that even the best teams like Demons have been unable to stop them over the 4 quarters.

I actually don’t care about the ppl going.
Are you telling me those ppl can’t get to a 2:30pm game?

For me, I bet I start prepping dinner at start time.
Probably be eating as it finishes. But that’s just me.

Should be played in bright sunshine at 2:30.
It’s a QF for christs sake.

This isn’t north v suns.

Rant over.
I mean, we don’t have to like it but it’s not hard to understand it’s a TV ratings decision.

I'd be very surprised if we went tall for the sub, especially against Collingwood. Even if Stanley went down early I think we've got the height to match them

We do but we lose a lot of flexbility if blitz has to ruck which is why we would consider a tall sub but if you lose a mid early to concussion and cant replace them with another runner then it backs you into a corner so a tricky one there.

Not sure that’s right about Kolo having no opponent. With Mihocek (192cm) and Johnson (193cm) they seem ideal matchups. Henry will get the one Kolo doesn’t. De Koning on Cox.

It’s shaping to me that Zuthrie will be the stiffest player omitted in a very long time.

I think so too. Zuthrie doesnt deserve to miss but kolo is needed for one of the talls you mention (plus he might take de goey when de goey plays forward as he has done in the past), atkins is a lock and needed in the midfield and duncan who is an auto in and can play back...unless we do something more structurally radical like drop rohan or miers then zuthrie and oconnor will both be unluckily dropped.

I disagree.

Elliot is the one player from Collingwood who needs a defender that is purely focussed on defending. That is kolo or bews

Bews for elliot and kolo to a tall (say johnson) for me.

Atkins is top 10 in the comp for tackles and pressure acts.

And had 17 touches and was 2nd in the team for pressure acts despite playing little over a half. Hes a lock for the 22.

Just have to start well. We start well and we'll get them I reckon, our class and scoring power will be too much.

If we start poorly we'll be looking at a replay of 2019. Pies don't have the firepower to put us away, but their defensive structure is good enough to keep us to a lowish score if the game is played on their terms.

I think we either look comfortable all night with a late pies comeback (which we'll survive) or it'll be a dour 60-48 type game, much like 2019.

Switch on early and we've got this, the boys have been preparing all year. This is it.

Thats how i see it panning out too.

What about Ginnivan? Bews seems the perfect match up for him.

Kolo could match Elliott's aerial prowess, he's a bit slow on ground ball though.

Bit too risky to put say a Touhy on either as they can both put on bursts of goals.

Maybe Henry goes to Elliot and Kolo to Miochek.

I think you want a guy who can spring in the aor but recover at ground level very quick and for me thats bews not kolo. More concerned about elliot who is a matchwinner than ginnivan.

Whats with people bitching about the Sat twilight timeslot because it clashes with community footy? It's unfortunate but getting as many Geelong fans to the G should be priority 1.

Did anyone care about community footy when finals were played at 2.10pm on weekends? Such a strange argument that we should factor in community footy when it comes to the finals series of the #1 sporting league in the country.

His last 3 weeks have been far below his standard though, I back him to turn that around come finals of course but he's a bit more wobbly than he was a month ago.

Has coincided with Parfitt’s return. They will need to work out his role because it may have to be tweaked.

In: Stanley, Duncan, Cameron

Out: Ceglar, Rohan, Sav

Stiff: Menegola (sub?)

We can cover loss of Rohan forward with 2E, Henry, Danger, or a resting Stanley. We all know what Rohan goes missing in finals!

Prefer we keep both Kolo and Zuthrie.

Rohan has more than a few mates when it comes to finals failures.

Why is it that a guy in our bottom 6 is the man who our finals chances depend on? If anything, Geelong of 2022 has shown that it's the collective and not about individuals when it comes to winning games of footy. This is one of the key reasons we've become a better team and why we finished top of the ladder.

The coaches have changed it up. Never thought I would see Rohan at a centre bounce but this year I have.

Ginnivan?
Maybe.
Bews seems to take the most dangerous small, and given recent exposed form that would be Elliot.
We may see Atkins reprise his backline role as well. Ginnevan would be ideal fodder.
Pies have lots of potential threats.
‘Master coach’ Scott’s first finals hurdle approaches ( cue twilight zone music)

Would be a waste of Atkins there. Ginnivan doesn't have explosive pace etc so I would be happy if Zuthrie was on him and leave Atkins to midfield rotations where he is having a break out season.

Trying to select the best Cats team is subjective and futile.
Akin to ranking your most loved children... and they're triplets
Best is best left to experts who know their capabilities and condition.
Then tailored for specific specific tactics and matchups.

Judging from the outside I think players that have a defined specific role are safe.
Those that can fill a general roles and looking for a spot are most vulnerable...
Especially those that have any weakness.... in speed, skill or decision making.
Blitz has taken MOC spot in midfield while Tuohy and Menegola are adrift
Further you can't replace a better player out of position ie: Parfitt for Miers.
