Don't have a problem with Murphy coming in for Goo - always does the job required of him although there are heart in mouth moments with him but then suckers and goo do that to me at times as well - so mehhh. Don't know who sub will be - didn't think ellis was a good choice last time - takes him a bit of time to get into the game but maybe that's who they will run with.

YOUNG IS A MASSIVE LOSS :(

I know lots don't like Murph but it was always going to be first replace would be Ellis and with Youngy out, made sense that lockdown specialist, Murphy is also in. Cheney will be Guerra's long term replace but to be fair hadn't done enough this year to risk him in a final. Savage would have been close, especially with Young out, but Young has played more towards down the back end so a stopper was the obvious choice. Plus, who knows what will happen to the team before it is handed to the umps.

Have to say, didn't notice any problem with Youngy at training. This would seem to be conservatity to me. Would be really interesting if Hawks had Youngy as an emergency! (yes, I have that little faith in teams reporting their side!);-)

Ch 9 news had Youngy in every shot. Kicking not running though. I would like to have seen some footage of Gunston. Can posters that attended training please confirm his presence and output?

Like the Goldsack out. I always thought Dawes would play.

Ohh im sick of having this arguement....HE IS A SPUD and its going to be painful watching the game tomorrow night. Cant believe his in for finals...

Solution - don't watch

Edit - beaten to it by Molly

I wouldnt mind in the slightest if Cheney was in for Goo tomorrow night, has done pretty well when given a chance, I reckon he would be pretty hungry to hold his spot if he got that chance as well

And I like so many others are sick of comments like this... are you so arrogant that you think that you know more than the match commitee and most of teh football world... hopefully you are 12 years old and can be forgiven

The selection of Dawes kills off any chances for the Pies. The guy's a spud, allowing the Hawks to let the behind point mind him while they can double team Trav out of the game. Predicted score

Hawks 117
Pies 47

Yes, but it's the gamble they have to take. Dawes at his best is damaging and everyone knows the monsters have exposed us.

You don't think that Murph would be just as hungry? Was in the losing team last year? Was an emergency in 2008 (if I remember right)? I have a funny feeling Murph will be as hungry as a guy who hasn't eaten for a month!

No you are spot on about Murphy, I wouldnt have an issue with him coming in either but I would be equally happy if it were Cheney

Not sure why some fellow Hawks posters are angry with the Murphy selection  Did anyone watch him against Collingwood in Round 17 as a defensive forward? He played a great game on Maxwell. We went with the more experienced player in Murphy over Cheney. We will win! :)
And kicked a goal!

Having said all that, and being a well known supporter of Murph, if he is the Sub, I would be disappointed. Not that he didn't get a first 21 position but because I don't think he fits the offensive side of the sub (i.e. come in an impact). He would be more the "Guard against an injury" type of sub.

Two very important players in our set up as outs. I'm a tad worried.

Agree. Lose a pivotal player in our defence and arugably our best runner who are both beautiful long kicks, and replace them with a largely one dimensional player in murphy, and a slowish midfielder in Ellis, neither who are long penetrating kicks.

In saying that both can fill roles and with some slight tweaks it shouldn't affect our set too much. Ellis Sub for mine, Murphy maybe playing a shut down role on Goldsack if he plays, or maybe Jackson Paine maybe. It might work in our favour as Youngy will certainly come back in so you have 22 players playing for 21 positions essentially

Good luck lads, win this and we can go into a prelim, fresh and with players to come back in. CARN HAWKERS

Weather forecast is cold, windy and showers.

Think that suits Tom. The ball will be hard to mark and his 'know your limitations' approach to disposal will reduce clangers in the back 50. Will be interesting to see if they give him someone like Krakouer.

Best of luck Hawkers !!!
