Game Day R3 Port v Fitzroy, at the Gabba

Besides the awful start, we played some good footy tonight, some stupid D50 errors and I50 finishing. We dominated them for majority of the game and only have ourselves to blame.

Burton, Lycett, kids have added another dynamic to our team and plenty to look forward to.

Forget about the last 5 mins of umpiring, it will go unnoticed and will happen again and again.

I think the Sam Gray expirement is done, would have preferred Billy or stuck with Marshall.

The kids have some runs on the board so I’d stick with them, Doug’s was disappointing and will need to make way.

The difference is that we acknowledge poor selections and coaching moves, yet we don’t bring constant negativity to this board and go out of our way to bring the club and its players down. There were plenty of postitives tonight and over last two weeks, and although the first and last 10mins were very poor today, Brisbane are a good up and coming side. So I would say this is the wrong board for you sir.

I've been here a while I know what it's like. Brisbane are ok but theyll still battle to make finals. Carlton will finish bottom 4 ... The reality is we are still a middle of the road side. I think you're getting Facebook and these forums confused mate. These forums are very negative.. and for good reason sometimes.

Marshall still got the ball to ground.. offered a get out target and took a defender. Sam Gray was picking weeds out of the ground.
What effect did that have on the game tonight? Actually none. We still dominated the game, and our senior players goal kicking let us down, and decision making at other times. Not structure, selections or f@# all else. We shot ourselves in the foot simple as that. Mind you against a side that belted the reigning premierspremiere, and will take a few more scalps up there. We should've won, but didn't.

Bare in mind with a young side we will get these ups and downs all year. It will harder in winter when the young guys begin to get tired from playing AFL footy. Hope you are prepared for that.

I'm prepared to finish bottom 6-4. I'm very happy with how our youngsters have performed. Unbelievable so far. It's the senior players and the insanity coaching selections that do my head in.

Understandable. I think this year's side is better then what we have had the last couple of years, so we'll see what happens with the journey ahead.

Problem is that it’s not the youngness about our side that lets us down. It’s almost everything else. It’s the youth getting experience like their older teammates that worries me.

Butters disappeared after halftime which was surprising. Duursma never got near it and Drew has one of those forgettable nights where everything he touched turned to soap.

Rozee was phenomenal.
These are puppies and when the "leaders" behave like nervous school children, when they f**k around trying to be too clever by half, when the leaders can't kick goals that my invalid neighbour next door would kick with her eyes closed, when the "champions" are absolutely shit and look gutless, the puppies are exposed and try as they might and they did, they are just overwhelmed.

Rozee is a star already and some of the "champions" would do well to take a leaf out of his book about how to play Australian Rules Football and how doing the simple things brilliantly shits all over doing brilliant things occasionally and not doing the simple football things that matter.

We all know our clubs history, and our view as supporters on co-captains.

In our first game with co-captains this is what we get ? Needn't say anymore !
Exactly- last 7 minutes———-zero leadership. Can’t see how co captaincies is going to help a side ingrained with Hinkley losing attitude

On a par with Marshalls last week then.
Marshall should not have played last week. The kid put his hand up to play for sure but he got smashed in the head the week before that and he didn't know whether his was Arthur or Martha.

Once upon a time, in the "good old days", people with head knocks that were left motionless or just about, DID NOT PLAY the following week. Now, we are so "modern" that we play concussed players even though they may have passed the concussion testing but the testing is by no means full proof. The kid comes out and seems out of it and he gets dropped for his troubles. We would have been far better off not playing him last week and playing him tonight instead which could well have made an enormous difference.

As for S. Gray, how about the other Gray? At least the battler Gray put his head in and gave everything within his limited ability and ran his guts out. The other one always seems to left out when people talk about who was shit.

Just the umpteenth close loss in the last 6 years by the same characteristic thoughtless football and in addition to this we'll likely have another year of poor development in the Magpies to feed through to the seniors.

We couldn't take advantage of the 10 point lead late in the game and crumbled after Byrne-Jones did his crappy short kick forward.

How in the actual f does Robbie miss those easy shots at goal? Our super star...

God we messed up so many things tonight.

Robbie has been missing regulation shots for most of his career. The only part of his game that isn't elite.
