Because of the speed that it was happening at. As I said in one of my posts it was a reasonable play on decision decision and what the umpire saw first. it wasnt a blatant Dustin Fletcher trip where he dives and his hand takes the foot first or sticks his foot out and trips his opponent.

So you're not arguing he was tripped, you are arguing the umpire didn't see it ?

Or that it is a perfectly reasonable trip because it started above the knee at high speed?

I'm arguing the umpire may not have seen it as he was concentrating on the ball and so much happened with the twisting and turning of bodies. But he would have clearly seen that the first contact was McGovern being somewhat horizontal and his torso hitting Gray's hip.

Your tackle sliding down ending up as a trip example happens multiple times in a game and frees aren't paid, mainly because everything is moving so fast and having to watch the ball as much as the tackle slipping down the body.

So in your last paragraph you are agreeing that it is a missed free kick. Hallelujah!!

no way was that a reasonable play on decision, if it was at the other end of the ground that day it would have been payed. I think gray made it worse by throwing his hands up though.

All I'll say is as a player, if I was the West Coast guy I'd think I got away with one.

Seriously, why are we bothering debating the umpiring decisions of a game we lost to West Coast? We played 50 shades of shit and we still had the opportunity to win the game against these plebs. Yes we should have won, but they had a gameplan specifically tailored to beat us even though we didn't have our best inside mid (Wines) and wing (Polec). How shit must they be? Not even worth the debate time unless you're super bored.

I agree with REH, as a former umpire on replay the correct decision was made, Gray collapsed as a result of a fair Shepherd. IMO The shepherd never even went low, Robbie Gray just fell to the ground bringing the arms down with him.

Not a big deal anyway. We lost the game in the coaches box, not via umpiring

Because what would BigFooty be if we didn't argue like/with knobs?

Technincally it was there because of the final contact made by McGovern not the first contact made by McGovern, which most people objected to, but technically there should be about 700 free kicks paid per game.

I can only assume that he was the controlling umpire when McGovern blatantly and intentionally tripped Gray in the goal square at least 5 metres away from the ball when Gray was running into what would have been an open goal. Play on.

That's what I have been arguing against.

So Hinkley, who has been honest about everything bar the inner workings and private conversations, would lie about why we lost now would he?
Hes not telling lies he's just rewording it. Hes quoted that many players must own up to the garbage that was displayed yesterday

Wines and polec .. id take them over westcoast outs
Brown (knee) season
Mackenzie (knee) season
......
Darling (foot) 4-5 weeks
Selwood (ankle) 2-3 weeks
....
Rosa (hamstring) test

3 KFP's inc your B&F winner, your no.1 tagger and a decent midfielder is a decent out list. Or is that what you meant?
