Why would he say:

No certainty over who the father is. Therefore insinuate that his partner sleeps around.

He won't have a paternity test.

Regardless of who the father is, he will raise it as his own.

A friend who works for a power company said his CEO came back from a meeting with Barnaby with that impression. He's is either unable or unwilling to understand very basic concepts. He thought more the unable but I have friends in state politics who say he's quite affable and can put on a charm offensive when needed. I guess you don't have to be smart to be a suck arse though.

How he thought accepting $40,000 from Gina Reinhardt as a "prize" was going to go down well also beggars belief. The inaugural farm awards or some shit because he's a "champion" of farms. He's a dodgy guy.

its extremely frustrating isnt it. they're in a position of privilege and a lot of them are voted in purely based on the party they belong too, but we as the voting public are pretty much powerless in making sure theyre held to account

This is an amazing point.

As citizens we have a democratic right to vote them out.

The reality is that the majority will vote for the party.

They'd rather vote for Joyce than another party. Look at what Happened to Windsor because he sided with Hillard to keep the Nats put of office.

It's a farce because we have no say in the candidate.

Rusted on voters like farmers will vote for whoever the Nats put up.

Same with all parties.

A politicians private staff are quite different from your career public servants and often do a lousy job liaising with departmental staff on the payment of allowances etc.

I like Canberra but it was always full of gossip and intrigue, six degrees of separation up there is more like three.
Everybody knows everyone else's business and who's jumping back fences.

Legal rorting of allowances by politicians was rampant and probably still is, no side of politics goes too hard because they all have their heads in the trough.

Barnaby seemed like a pretty good politician in the national party mould but has turned out to a be an absolute lunatic. I think the wheels started to fall off when he pushed for the shift of departmental staff to Armadale. I wonder who will be the next politician outed.

Unless something else comes out he will walk in New England at the next election.

come on you must be taking the pi55 never mind the huff puff about the baby as thats not the issue here the real issue the one that the whole baby paternity riff raff is over shadowing is the fact that Barnaby used his influence to get his mistress a six figure paying job within the party without discolsing he was in a relationship with her ... that is dodgy as hell and is grounds for him to be charged with fraud... put it this way if centrelink get wind of a relationship change between a social service recipient that hasnt been reported then that person cops a whack from centerlink and has to pay money back with the threat that they could be charged with fraud for not disclosing information , yet Barnaby can use tax payers money to give his girlfriend a job and not disclose their relationship ... as deputy PM he would be knowing the rules that jobs to family and partners must recieve prime ministerial approval.. the bloke has been fraudulent to the PM , his party and the tax payer ... of course he should quit
