Review Rd 12, 2014 - Bulldogs vs Lions

Just home from the game and really happy, but was really worried in the last 15 mins of the last quarter. Have to say Martin was fantastic. Bewick/Beams/Zorko really good. Thought Harwood and Clarke did well. Clarke is really maturing. Brownie is amazing. Macquire really makes a difference to the team. Really proud of the boys, we could have lost in the last quarter had the dogs maybe kicked straight, but the good thing was we didn't loose our bundle. Aish's mark in the last bit was great.

Football is such an amazing thing and giving players the hi 5 on the boundary line as they leave the ground is good fun! Great to have a win and a win in Melbourne even with those white jumpers................fantastic to have so many Lions supporters making noise around us.

I think Zac O'Brien and Darcy Gardiner still need to learn some of the words.

Lewy Taylor might have em committed to memory, though.

Missed the game tonight, sadly. But, from the sounds of "big footy" and some
"Facebook" posts, it seems like the commenters were hating on us again.

Reading the article on the AFL site It's now says Claye Beams.

What is it with the TV commentators? It all seems to be about the other team, the Dogs don't seem to be doing this, the Blues don't seem to be doing that. maybe Lynch could stick up for the Lions a bit more, or are we that e relevant.

I reckon Lynch was doing his best to contain himself tonight. There was a little tremble in his voice for a lot of that game.

Was there any reason why we wore the white clash jumper tonight and not the usual fitzroy jumper?

Yet another reason to change the jumper back. Too much bloody blue in this design.

I didn't see it that way.

Tony Shaw was ripping into The doggies all night and seeking praise for us Especially Stefan Martin and Zorko.

Certainly some heart in the mouth moments throughout that last quarter and even more so when you have no idea how much time is left when at the game.

No doubt many here have sung the praises of Martin and Bewick, but my lord they were inspirational tonight, particularly Martin.

Not sure what it sounded/looked like on TV, but there was a huge contingent of Lions fans in the crowd. With only 18,000 odd there, I reckon 40% or so of those would have been Lions. Nothing like seeing a win down here in Melbourne.

So proud of the lads tonight.

Was clear on TV, Dylan.

Caused a few goosebumps for this old Roy Boy.

From the AFL website.

BEST
Western Bulldogs:
Macrae, Wallis, Liberatore, Dahlhaus, Cooney
Brisbane Lions: Bewick, Martin, Zorko, Hanley, Redden, Martin, Patfull, Taylor

INJURIES
Western Bulldogs:
Higgins (ribs)
Brisbane Lions: Taylor (left calf)

Just emphasising how good Martin really was. Little Taylor to come out after an injury and still battle on speaks volumes about his character. Great win by the boys.

He was jumping around when singing the song, defintely going to say he is a Lion for life :D

Love the Fitzroy jumper,no reason not to wear it tonight.
That's what I though? As suggested earlier though, there's too much blue on our fitzroy jumper to wear it when versing the bulldogs. But it didn't stop us from wearing the fitzroy jumper on round 1 last year... o_O

I'm pleased to hear and I look forward to now watching the game on TV, a half dozen odd times...no, but to see that many Lions fans of all ages, genders proudly displaying their colours including many families and all back out getting behind the club, it really was impressive and to be honest surprising. It didn't feel like that there were that many at the North game.

Nonetheless, can't help but think how many fans we'll see next year once the new jumper and renewed optimism returns.
