Ok. So I wonder whether the theory stands in terms of sub coming from bench - when it is extended bench. Ie. Do the 3 emergencies and sub co from the 8 on the bench?

If so, I am suprised (and disappointed) to see 2E NOT on the bench.

First time we have seen Dempsey named on the bench for a while (Blitz on wing which is ok but would have thought replaced 2E?)

What I am hoping is that with squad named instead of team, that the normal theory doesn’t hold. Maybe when they name the 23 (which I think happens Saturday night?) they shuffle 2E out managed and then shuffle the on field team? Surely he gets managed after last week’s effort?

Anyone else slightly surprised we've gone with all 3 tall forward options of Cameron, Hawkins & Neale?

If we do go in with those 3 again, does it somewhat confirm a similar structure to the second half of last week with Hawkins & Neale up forward, with a combination of Close, Dempsey, Miers, Rohan & Stengke joining them, while Cameron plays further up the ground

Or could we potentially see Neale as a swap to the emergency list when final teams are announced tomorrow night?

The early team news from 7News

Ins: Stanley, Blicavs, Clark & Mannagh
Outs: Henry (hamstring) - guessing that it's Ollie, but no initial was given

Also, no Dangerfield
No suprise at all given Danger SEN interview. Sounded very much like he was expecting to be doing 5 “12 km training sessions” over next 2 weeks instead of playing.

Doesn’t help us this week but assume they are hoping it works like 2022 where he came back after mid year “pre season” and didn’t miss a beat

To me it depends on whether Rohan is in the 22 or stays sub. I expected him to be straight swap for Henry in 22 and therefore some risk Neale goes out…

As you say if they do play the 3 talls and Rohan then they will keep Jezza further up the ground?

We'll hear tomorrow night about the 23 & emergencies -
Ollie Henry the only confirmed out, with Geelong’s final team will be locked in at 5.00pm tomorrow night.

Garbage changes. Disgusting arrogance from the coach holding the captain back for after the bye.

Don't mind it myself. Gives him an extra couple of weeks to get it 100%, especially since he's already missed two blocks of games with it already this season.

If the bye was in a couple of weeks then we may have played him and got a couple of games into him before the bye, but with the bye next week then as you said it just gives him that bit more time to make sure he is 100%

I’m disappointed Danger isn’t name too but I think it’s probably for the best.
We need him in peak condition for the second half if we are any chance of competing in the finals this season.

We showed Port no respect and rested players. Cost us 4 points.
We don't have the luxury to rest a player of his calibre on a whim anymore as a result.

Lose on Sunday and we could drop like a stone.
From 3rd to potentially 7th by round's end. Then out of the 8 during our bye.... With the Blues after that.

We used up our ladder position rest credits v Port.
No captain is fail selection.

At the moment Shaun is only on the extended bench - will have to wait until 22.5 hrs to see if he makes the final 23
True but I think there’s a clearer need for him than there has been before.

I agree that Neale is a bit of a surprise - although I think Cameron’s form on the wing earlier this year was fantastic, I expect him to have 3 votes in a couple of games. Well held by May+Lever and then concussed and not yet fully recovered IMHO.

Need a more cautioned approach with Dnager given his age and recent injuries I don’t mind the club taking a bit longer to play him get him 100% right for the run to finals
Its more at this point the high end return to play criteria that replicates high explosive loads over 10-12km durations of play being simulated in training.

If it's going to work anywhere it's in the f50 with the widest pockets against one of the shortest backlines, but I'm still surprised.

Happy for Neale to play regardless

I think Rohan could also drop out and then it's not THAT different to what we've had most of the year as OHenry plays tall anyway. Wouldn't be surprised to also see Cameron spend time up the field though.

More interested in the ruck situation. Assume Stanley doesn't make the cut. But I feel like both Blicavs and Neale benefit from spending some time there and not sure how you manage that. Also not sure if Blicavs is currently in good enough form to play as a mid without those ruck minutes

Or we could play him, have him tear his hamstring off the bone and lose him for the rest of the season.

Que Sera Sera if that happened.
Holding him back threatens our ability to even make finals. The rest of our midfield is garbage, Holmes excepted.

Danger isn’t going to make a world of difference vs the Swans given their form as it is …I would rather take a big picture approach is such a weak field of teams this year

That side is a wtf (tuohy in particular who is very lucky).
Dont need both neale hawk and blicavs on the scg so late changes surely?

otherwise i would make the bench zuthrie bowes mannagh and dempsey with clark the sub.
