Hmm. I might've taken a four goal loss at the start of the game, but somehow this doesn't really feel like a step in the right direction for us.

We've been down this path before, giving up big leads and then getting back into it when the intensity goes out of the game. It's just not sustainable.

Two games we should win followed by a hail mary trip to Geelong. It feels like the competitive part of our season is over with a lot of questions still to be answered. How do we fix our poor starts? Who is going to play key forward long term? Have we made genuine progress this year, or are we more or less the same as this time twelve months ago?

Something strangely unfulfilling about today, despite the comeback.

To quote old Russell Peters, this post I agree with one hundred fifty thousand percent.

I think I'm more dissatisfied because really, we could put today's performance alongside any typical game of the last 3 seasons. It feels like we haven't progressed as a team in terms of our organisation, general effectiveness or efficiency; in short, it doesn't feel like we're actually BETTER as a team. It might be a little unfair to use today's deflating performance as the barometer of our season (with Brown out, Martin only just back and only played a handful of games etc etc), but regardless, this was one of those yardstick games to measure our progress, and we did not turn up.

Of course, there is true evidence of development, plenty of positives with a few of our young brigade. I like to think of myself as an optimist, but to me it was still the same old problems that we have made no headway with in years.

Great improvement.

Did we miss Brownies contributions or would we have still lost by 23?

I do not agree, but you are entitled to your pessimistic opinion

That's the sort of loss I can cop. Wish I had of been there.

Patfull can hold his head up patfullfankezz - putting it down to one play over the course of the game is BS.
