Well I'm glad we can put this whole 'resting players' nonsense to bed, given the likelihood that Geelong themselves have stated they will be going 'all in'

I suspect that as is often the case with Geelong - what they say, and what they end up doing might be two entirely different things.

If Bulldog's beat Port Friday night, and we're backing our selected 22 to get the job done against Melbourne (whoever that is), then they will absolutely have a few late changes. Player x pulled up a bit sore after training ..... Player Y woke up with a bit of a headache and we erred on the side of caution. Since when has C Scott telegraphed what he's thinking 5 days out and stuck to it? No longer having the bye after the weekend, has ended up changing all the plans they would otherwise have had.

I'd expect to see a few back up types like Krueger / Fort / Constable get a run. It's not like we're being reckless and playing 3-4 first gamers

They're not going to play anyone who isn't in their finals plans I'd have thought. They'll be selecting there best possible side.

It is a difficult decision for the MC. If a lot of players are rested, does the selected team go in playing 90%?

It's very likely we'll see changes including one or two 'managed'. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Krueger given another game to show what he can do, given that the back line is now a question mark without Stewart. Nor would it surprise to see Clark back in before the season is over.

This.
Selected side will be as close to their finals best 22 as possible, the only point of difference MAY be structure or setups that they want to hold back.

You may be right - I'm just taking a punt on what they do. We're in unchartered waters as far as I can recall?......can't remember Geelong playing a dead rubber (assuming Dogs win Fri) against a side they play the week after in a QF?

That does potentially change the approach they take.

It would be silly to do anything other than play our best available side. We’ve already got key players out. And we need to get the team playing the way they need to for finals. The last month has mostly been poor but we’ve still managed to get wins.
Last chance to get things right before heading into finals.

As it should be - the only fair option after being shafted for years with no home finals

And see if we can take better advantage of a home GF than the Lions did last year
Jokes aside, I kinda back it, geelong always get ****ed with the finals

I think it’s pretty unlikely we actually play Melbourne week 1 anymore with the dogs losing last week

We can't play Dees week one of finals whatever happens this weekend .............. I think.

Yeah I'm sure.

Think you're correct Cattery

I have a :
QF v Brisbane if Cats and Power win
QF v Port if Cats win , Power lose ( home final)
QF v Port if Cats lose , Power win (away final)
QF v Dogs if Cats lose , Power lose

Have done it with Squiggle which takes into account margin and hence %

Basically agree. But if Port runs the Dogs close and we get smashed by the Dees, we could drop to fourth on percentage and thus get the Dees again.

They bat very deep through midfield.
Though he is not a midfielder, they get a great deal of their midfield drive from Salem across half back flank. Averaging 25 disposals per game, he's often a barometer in a similar way Stewart is to us.
Langdon, Oliver, Petracca, Viney & Harmes are all gathering 22+ disposals on a weekly basis.

By comparison, Geelong have Guthrie, Menegola, Selwood, Dangerfield and Smith averaging 22+.

Gawn/Jackson vs Stanley/Blicavs is a definitie win to Melbourne. Gawn will have 45 hit outs, 20 disposals and 6 clearances on the weekend.
Turn it up, Stanley is playing well at the minute, Smashed Marshall and he plays well against Gawn.

This game reminds me of the last game against the pies in 2011. We smashed them by 100 pts and went on to win the granny. That’s what we what to do this time around, destroy their confidence!

Yep, Rohan and Atkins the only possible ins (if fit) for mine. Miers apparently is at least another week away.
