Anyone else thinks Jackson needs to be rested ? If Darcy is 100% bring him in and give Jackson a break. He looked exhausted against the blues. A week off to rest up will do a load of good. But that’s just me it’s a long season
He can rest in the forwardline. He will only be 50%ruck time by the sounds of it.

dont think our talls have really been an issue the last few weeks tbh, tabs has made some great impact with his pressure the last couple weeks, treacy has been impactful around the ground, amiss has been ok but missing shots on goal he should be kicking really. the small forwards really let us down this week imo, obvs walters was very quiet and saads impact grew throughout the game as he could ran off him with ease. freddy does not take the chances he should, switta has never been a goal kicker but the same for him. not sure why theyre so scared of actually taking a shot at goal.

Thought we needed to move Emmett onto Saad as a negating role, Saad ran off Walters far to easily

It's not 1990, you can't rest in the forward line anymore. They run the furtherest of anyone.
I think combining first ruck and heavy forward demands is much more physically taxing than the roving mid to forward role.
He can run all day but the physical battery of first ruck is very different , and there is a compound effect..
Darcy fit and firing is a "game changer".
Dogga needs to be off the lead and not chained to the ruck contest.

We have seen how influential Dogga can be in the ruck. He would have gotten brownlow votes playing that position for us this season. With Darcy back, he can physical wear down the opposition's number one ruck. Inject Jackson into the midfield against a tired ruck in the 4th quarter and we could really cause some pain.

Agree.. Saad was running amok during that period it looked like the blues were going to run over the top of us

Sonny has struggled forever and a day against those types of guys.
Saad and Houli are perfect examples of players that have routinely torn us a new one and a lot of it has been due to Walters.

I think our forward line is going to look very pedestrian with Switta and Freddy out and Son Son looking a bit out of sorts.

Left field but I would think Jack Delean is exactly the type of player we need in our forward line.

A couple of runs he did yesterday showed great run and carry and he has the X factor.

Yes he is light and obviously not quite the finished player yet but sometimes those types rise to the occasion when playing in a better side.

He is from SA and would relish playing at Adelaide oval.

I would play him and tell him to not try and take high flying marks but get around the feet of the big blokes.

He knows where the goals are and from what I have seen he does chase and tackle.

I do think we have a player there but we are very conservative with our team selection so probably wouldn't happen.

Do the Dockers stay in Adelaide after the game against Carlton or did the squad head back to Perth ?

It would make sense to stay in Adelaide after the Carlton game to prepare for this weeks game.

The are staying in SA and have a couple extra join them yesterday, Erasmus and Darcy being at least two of those.

A nice little boost to get a bit more team chemistry away from their home surroundings.

I reckon Freo are a chance to knock over Port Adelaide on their home patch this weekend. Id imagine would have to put a tag on Rozee? Not sure who is the best player equipped to do that.....Dont think Dockers can do what the Bombers did and he let him roam free around midfield.

not sure we really have anyone with the pace to match it with rozee, expect young to go head to head with him though, not necessarily a tag though. i imagine well back our own group in to win the midfield battle, we should probably have the strength advantage over the power, and are more defensively proficient there then the dons midfield

still, hard to keep all of butters, rozee, jhf quiet

In system we trust.

Don't know how much Saad was playing on Walters (it's usually a revolving feast... plus you keep Sonny as an attacking option first and foremost), but Saad was pretty well corralled I thought. 80% of his disposals were in the defensive half and he had an average rating for metres gained (424m).

I agree with a couple of things you are saying, I am also excited about what Delean might become especially because he has a great kick and does not hesitate about having a go at the goals. But and it's a big but, he is soooo far away from being AFL standard. He really struggled to get possessions in a WAFL game, he will be destroyed at AFL level at the moment. Let him develop, it is not being conservative its common sense.

Are you saying we can’t beat port, or Switta isn’t going to be the difference maker anyway so should test him?
Port at home will be very difficult to win. Not impossible but not likely. I personally think we'll do better then what some posters on here think will happen. If Melbourne can win why can't we? Although saying this, Switta has been really important to us this year and has a poor injury history. I want him fit and firing for the remainder of the season.

Can't see us getting over the line here. Their mids are way better than Carlton, and Rozee is in career best form.
Rozee, Horne Francis & Butters will unfortunately be too much.
freo mids will pose us a great challenge, cant say rozee career best form coz of one amazing game against mediocre opposition. our mids dont often run 2ways, we always spread from a contest towards the fwd half before we even win a contested ball in the middle of the ground lol. freo great two way midfield.

The midfield battle will be a great barometer for where our group is at. Feel like with two young cores we’ll be having a few epic battles over the coming years
