Wow I’ve never been happier to be wrong & so comprehensively. I thought Sturt was no chance based on his game at Peel.

Nothing would make me happier than for him to kick a few & make himself incumbent. I’ve always loved his skills.

I guess the stars aligned for him with the outs. Poor old Brodie must be having quietly wicked thoughts about wanting Fyfe to go down.

Sturt in for Switta, Darcy for Tabs

That’s surprising. Never hoped Sturt would be fit but he’s definitely needed.

Jl did say Darcy will spend more time forward than Jackson. Not going to be as agile up forward.

Or JOM. How the hell does he get a game.

Better bring some defence Sturt, or he’s a boomerang. In then out
Should stay in. Frederick in for JOM next week and it’s a great mix.
Sturt is more mobile and has better pace than Taberner.

Really like the forward line this week given the changes

Listening to Longmuir today in the Derby presser, he said Sturt was very good.
I read here and other site that he was not good. Played well early, but drifted out.
I am glad he is getting a chance as he to me is a true forward.

The tenor of the coverage this week (all to sell papers of course so I should let it go, but won't) has had strong element of "We're back, we've turned the corner, thank God its over" for the Nosebags. This is all off losing at home to Sydney by 'only' 5 goals then beating Richmond with them not having a single AFL standard full time inside midfielder playing (!)

Whether they win (not impossible, we could be off enough and they could kick straight enough), have a honorable 3 to 5 goal loss (less than median probability) or get flogged (most likely) they should all go have a look at this and realise how far they actually have to go:

Same actually, thought he had surprisingly decent intensity. Dropped a sitter on the lead though
not sure how it came across on the stream but in person at the game i thought Sturt did Ok with his attack on the ball and yes he is still a bit underdone having only played one game all year but he is a true forward who can kick straight
Knockers need to look back at his last six games or so last year, if we get on top and get the ball to him he will finish and we badly need scoring power

Older and more experienced than us. Oh no..

I'm surprised with the Sturt selection.

The last few weeks, the big shortfall is forward line pressure and the ability to lock the ball in the forward half. Not sure how Sturt addresses this.
Did you not watch the back half of 2023? Even JL sung his defensive praise at the time and he hasn't been shy at saying the opposite in the past.

The only real concern is that he'd have to be somewhat underdone.

I think you’ll find that JLo actually said Darcy will play “a little bit of time forward but not much….mainly ruck”

Thought Sturt made himself incumbent last year. Right now he seems to be underdone and he has never been at his best like that. But if by chance he was fit and in form he is a point of difference in our forward line.
