Yes and we saw what Ratten did to Gibbs.

Running around in circles with this one I think. Must be next gen Carlton plucking out a player and mis developing them. Though I dont think Stocker is as jelly as Bryce. But needs to be in the guts his kicking skills will create plenty/

He's 2 games in and we already have a young midfield. Teams always play extra midfielders on flanks so they can rotate in and out. I think Stocker did go in for a couple of bounces though.

First half against Hawks and for a lot of today we have played real quality football. High standard stuff. Today was even more impressive because of the opposition and we were missing Simpson Jones & Newman.

Setterfield
Marchbank
Williamson
Stocker
Fisher
Gibbons
Walsh
Dow
Jack
McKay
Charlie
Cuningham

All showed what they can do and have so much upside. Long way to go but we are definitely improving and the talent we have should be obvious

You want success without sacrifice. You want time to adhere to your view of ideal rather than accepting it marches on at the same speed as always. You want the process we've gone through rebuilding to result in instant results in spite of the consistent examples set by others on how it works.

Something does have to give, and it's related to how you're assessing things.

Incorrect. I want to see the club shine. I was one of the biggest advocates of the rebuild but we are not Brisbane nor Gold Coast mate come on now.

I am negative only with what I observe dont like it one iota and dont have a crystal ball to see whats ahead. Could be another five years of wooden spoons - I dont know I can only comment with what we have now. If I dont see any tactical and strategic improvement what do you expect me to think.. the world is rosy? There is improvement but no where near an acceptable level to win flag we cant even win a damn game.

A really good effort from the boys today, the stronger more experienced players from collingwood came to the fore in the end.
We were missing 570 games experience from our backline today, that would have helped in the last 5 minutes to try and settle down the younger players.
As many have commented the non decisions from the umpires bewildering at times, the amount of times colingwood players threw the ball blatantly with no penalty was ridiculous.
Cuningham and Mcgovern their best games for us and Stocker's attack on the ball shows he will clearly be a player for us in the future,
The captain huge again and Murphy's best game for a while.

If that was the play, that would have relied on on-field leadership in any case. The coach can't control much with 10 minutes to go in the last. Have you ever played sport?
You are quite right about the coach and the final minutes of a game. However, our ongoing results suggest there is a mental issue that needs to be seriously addressed.

Did anyone notice when Charlie got hurt in that contest with Darcy Moore it was due to Moore kicking out at Charlie’s legs in desperation. Should have been a free, maybe even a report? Pretty sure it was this sort of thing that sidelined Fisher last season.

Good to see Charlie up and about today but geez he makes me wince every time he goes near it. Just looks like an injury waiting to happen almost every time.

Paddy Dow needs a spell in the 2’s. Looks like a deer in the headlights every time he gets near the ball. His set shot for goal miss was criminal.
Needed to find a whipping boy today did you? I thought he was pretty darn good at times. The shit he cops amazes me, he gets compared to seasoned campaigners when he’s still a teenager. Judge him against his peers and you’ll probably find he’s doing better than most.

I'm serious. You watch his body movements in traffic. He has good spatial awareness. How good was that tap that led to a goal in the last quarter.
Agree totally Cunners is coming along nicely, all our fourth year players are playing great footy atm.

I did. You didn’t read it. You reacted to something you’ve interpreted because my view is liability and you have a different opinion. Not sure what else I can say sorry. you’re clearly on a troll witch hunt agenda so if I’m to be it do whatever you’re already keen to do. Pretty sure my history despite willing to have controversial views isn’t a trolling one but be my guest and justify your cause I suppose 🤷🏿‍♂️

Please, that's a cop out. You made one post basically saying that Plowman was our only bad player today and that 50% of their scoring went through him. That's not a thought our analysis. Then the liability one. That's two posts. Pretty sure you were on the case last week as well.

You can have your opinions, go for it. Just be prepared to have the discussion if called on them, not put it down to a power hungry mod out to get you. That's just sloppy. If I was out to get you, I would have already wouldn't I? I'm trying to bring you to the party and make a genuine contribution to a discussion/debate whatever.

Now, do you want to dissect Plowman's game today or are you just sticking to the 'liability' insight?

Some or our players out there need to be better. Need to be stronger at the core. In the last five minutes you have to :

1. Stay on your ******* feet
2. Lay a ******* tackle and when you do, don't let the other ****** break it
3. Get to the ball when it needs to be met.

Our players don't do this. It's about being better than the bloke in the other jumper when the ball is there to be affected and we simply don't ******* do it.
You’re not actually bagging KIDS like Liam Stocker for having tackles broken in the last are you?

13 kids today. THIRTEEN.

Effort of a lifetime by those boys. I can’t believe I’ve come on here and read anything but positives.

Bolts has an opp to bitch about umps and he instead whines about how hard umpiring is. Thats it im over him.

You're upset that Bolts didn't rip into the umps? Where would that have got him?

Not what I saw Dadda. I saw a team trying to run and gun. One point I saw Cunners in the middle of the ground with players around him and instead sharing with his team mates was looking upfield but no one was there. If he is instructed to share the ball amongst his mates with a relase handball and relief kick could have slowed down at least a minute and this is only one example of many.
Yep obviously never played sport.

but good teams always get the calls

and why should that be?

My theory is there is an unconscious bias toward the team perceived by the umpires to be the 'better team' It has been going on for decades. We have been crap for 20 years, so we gradually get worse and worse umpiring calls, because we are perceived to be incrementally more crap year on year.

At the end of the third quarter - I didn't like the skinny runt nerdy ump walking off the ground and having a smiley session/joke with Pendelbury who was playing him like a violin.I thought a few frees in the last quarter were a bit one sided up till that point I hadn't noticed the free kick count.

What I did notice was

1. SOJ is a starting player - earned.
2. Stocker will probably be a better player than any of the blokes picked using our lost pick this year to Adelaide so I really dont give a toss - he is already a genuine hard nut - huge tick for me and the classiest kick of the football we have recruited in some years
3. Levi did credit to himself AND his coach who made the call- big tick Bolts
4. I had a big red line through Gibbons name as a player by half time and by the ned of the game I had changed my mind - thought that wa shi sbest game this year - still has some deficiencies but who hasn't except for
5. Kreuzer more than halved the ruck contest - the only thing Grundy has on him is leg speed and spread
6. Cripps went full monster after Q1 - took him that long to bench the tagger - at one point he literally had two Collingwood tacklers bboucne off him as he just ran through them - would have made a great lock in rugby
7. Marchbank played his best game all year - looked a different player
Lots of positives today and total reversal of last weeks absolute disgusting effort

Negatives

Last 4 goals Collingwood kicked came right out of their backsides.

Easy to say from the arm chair. Teddy Roosevelt said it best, but that's the gist.
