He's meant to be in adl nxt saturday at the Morphettville races apparently w menz as well, might have to go....ahhh the spring carnival don't you love it

What if Geelong runs into a rough patch of form? Will Henderson lose interest and let his form wane like he did at Carlton, adding to the team's poor performance?

There is obviously a lot of BS going on behind the scenes at Carlton. They have a lot of players who looked disinterested at times and a lot of players looking to move elsewhere right now.

Let us not forget, in 2006 when we had a heap of off field shit going on, there were a few blokes at our club that didn't look 100% engaged most weeks who then went on to play in multiple premierships.

yes' I understand we aren't robots but we are talking about the AFL here. The most popular sport in Australia which gets televised to some countries around the globe and you are going to tell me that for $500k a year, you can't bring your best for 22 weeks out of the 52 weeks in the year?
I understand if injuries are inhibiting your attitude but when you are in the prime of your life, simply playing in a poor team shouldn't be a great deterrent. The club he plays for is immense. They are well publicized and have a huge following. It's not like he's playing for the fabricated plastic factories in GWS & Gold Coast who are merely toys for the successful businessman who put together such teams.
The way I see it, you only have to drop off 5-10% in this competition for the opponent to roll you over. Look at the Enright 300 game this year.

As much as it seems crazy from the outside, these guys do fluctuate for all sorts of reasons and, with a small drop, all of a sudden you are being soundly beaten.

All I can say is Eddie Betts. Performance was extremely poor at times at Carlton, yet has had a fantastic year with the crows.

We are products of our environment, so I'm hopeful Hendo will rise to the challenge.
A lot of people mentally check out when they know they are moving jobs as well... god I know i have done it before.

Makes Dangers work with the Crows even more impressive really

At the end of the day because he is a very good player who can play forward or back. He will be twice as good in our side that he was at the Blues.

Secondly, Harry Taylor turns 30 this year and Lonergan turns 32. As I said before perhaps ideally we would like to get him next year but that won't happen also looking forward as regards R/FAs and available players there isn't going. Worst case scenario this year he and Harry Swap between CHF and CHB. I can think of worse things.

We can't wait for the stars to align when we want them to -some times we've just got to take our chances now by grabbing players when they're available and put up with a bit of short term pain for the longer term gain. This way, also, he has an extra year of fitting into the club- rather than expecting him to fit in immediately next year, should Lonners retire.

I'd really like to see a ruck division contain all 3 of Smith, Stanley, Vardy, or Stanley, Vardy, Clark.

With the 2 who aren't rucking at the time resting forward. Especially if we get Smith.

Don't forget Stanley and Vardy are both extremely mobile for their size. A forwardline containing Hawkins, Vardy, and Stanley would scare the pants off of many teams.

I think the first triumvirate is pretty short odds.

I'd also like to add one of the things I truely love about stanley, is his leg speed. As he continues to build his tank, I start to drool at the prospect of thurlow hitting him lace out on the wing, he delivers to motlop, cockatoo, dangerfield (3 of the fastest players in the competition) etc. Who hits up Hawkins on the chest. Only for Stanley to now be on his own in 25 out in the pocket as he has charged forward.

like Vardy was doing in the last game or two?
Yeah, I loved watching Stanley bolting out of the middle but am happy to watch him doing that off the wing or wherever he's playing :D

Exactly TC, doesn't the thought of having 2 of those players in 1 team along with hawkins really excite.

Especially because the opposition will have to find a 3rd decent tall defender, and they can lead of opposite sides of the ground ie square and wing, or alternate square and wing. So no possibilities of a 3rd man up situation, with a quick turn to hitting hawkings on the chest 30m out directly in front.

The way I see it, we may play it like a 5 man forward line.

ie.
HF Vardy - Stanley
FF Menzel - Hawkins - Gregson

With greater onus placed on our midfield to get to the fall of the ball. (As if its not there already)

Of course this is only whilst all 3 are on the field.

Should create alot of space over the back for our slow players like motlop, cockatoo, dangerfield, guthrie, Murdoch to run into also. ;-)

haha.

We will be Cats with Wings, by the sounds of it! :D

That being Smith, Stanley, Vardy.

I know it seems very tall, but given we're also looking at an exceptionally mobile midfield next year I feel like mobility will be one of our biggest strengths despite our height.
It won't matter who gets the hitout- we'll steal it off them using Selwood, Danger, etc.- flick it out to the waiting runners (10 of them) and they'll run like the wind :D

Could be TC, I actually think the whole notion of a line-up is basically redundent these days anyway, because no club can afford to so rigid in their planning they'd get torn apart. I fully expect our tall forwards to lead up the wings/middle and dish off to our runners like the geelong teams of old.

Except for Hawkins and Clark, who both would love to stay in the square :p

My Saints contact says Stanley will be our second Hamish ie spend most of his time in rehab. Just sayin...
