Another attempt from Wallace to deflect attention away from himself in the last year of his contract.

Well done Terry :thumbsu:
Well done indeed, glad you approve.

If Eddie has come out that quickly to state that he will vote against putting Polak on the longterm injury list, he must be the most gutless, arrogant and selfish peice of shyte on the face of the planet!!! An act like that this far into this saga could only come from a man who epitimizes the word that begins with C and ends with T!!!
Seconded. He's one of those all right. Read 'Who Killed Channel Nine' to see not only what a one of those he is, but an incompetent one at that.

Of course you feel that way. What you're smelling is your own fear. Our midfield already has yours covered; the thought of adding a Brownlow medallist to ours as one retires from yours no doubt has you squirting in your daks.:p
Probably has more to do with Richmonds supporters pumping themselves and their club up, only to fall flat on their face once again.

It's like some of those videos on funniest home vids, .....you know the kid is gonna cop it in the nads, and you've seen it a hundred times before, but it's still funny.

If Cousins does come back, I really hope he sticks it up Fonz's ass (not literally:D) and shows everyone that he can still play. People forgot this guy was a Brownlow medalist, and is still only just turned 30. He's still young and can still provide quality service as he's an extremely fit person. Only injuries will derail him as I feel he can just slot back with ease (his 39 possessions in his comeback match).

have Richmond actually said they will draft him with the extra pick or is the media just saying they could pick up cuz if they got the extra pick in the pre-season draft.

Eddie McGuire said on 3AW at 7.55pm

- Adam R was a one off
- Not enough information has been given
- Will talk to the AFL next couple of days
- only issue is this should have been done BEFORE the draft.

The issue is not with Graham Polak but with Richmond trying to gain an UNFAIR advantage just prior to the PSD.

IMO, there is a large difference between someone having cancer and someone getting hit by a tram, but, both we're possibly near death altercations, and i believe, that this, should again be a one off, well, make that two.

I do believe, that if the AFL give it the go ahead, it will be great for Ben, as he has been passed up by most, and really deserves a chance. If we've ever wanted to help someone rehabilitate, giving them a chance, such as this, should help.

I really hope the AFL gives it the go ahead, i hope Ben gets picked up and i hope he stays clean.

Gerard Healy seems to think that's the reason, though who knows where he got that from?

If Eddie wants to try and stop this then he is a **** of the highest order! What a prick!
Why??

Why should special allowances be made for Richmond just so they can pick up Cousins??
What would the perception be if Croad's injury was year ending and we wanted to do the same thing?? I doubt Bigfooty would be so cheery about the prospect.

Has this place gone mad?

No, it hasn't gone mad.

Polak was hit by a tram and put into an induced coma. By all reports, he has no peripheral vision and more than likely will never play again. That, according to most doctors and insurance assessors, would qualify for a serious traumatic injury, verging on life threatening, and one in which he may never resume his normal occupation.

Just the same as Rama. Rama was very lucky and got over his cancer, and good on him for that. Polak mightn't be so lucky. In fact, if anything, Polaks condition could quite possibly be considered worse than Rama's. With little or no chance of a full recovery.

Such is the nature of head trauma.

To compare it to a broken bone in the foot is laughable. And I say that in the nicest possible way.

The AFL set the precedent with Ramanauskas. The first question is whether Polak's situation is analogous with Rama's. For mine it is. The guy suffered a life-threatening injury outside of football for which he is undergoing rehabilitation and will be unable to play next season.

The second question is why they haven't made the application sooner. Who knows? Maybe they've just got an updated medical report that makes it 100% that he won't play next season. In any event I doubt the late application will be a deal-breaker if the reasons for putting Polak on the rookie list are sound.

It should be totally irrelevant who they are going to draft with the extra pick.

Well if there's anywhere that I'd prefer Cousins to be it is with the Tiges. If Eddie wants to try and stop this then he is a **** of the highest order! What a prick!

Talk about misreading whats happening....

The Tiges already, regardless of the Polak situation, have a pick in the PSD. They can pick up Cousins if they want to without Polak moving to the rookie list.

This is media/bigfooty beat up at it's finest.

Have a think about it!!

And rightly so too. I'm sure that Richmond will not be allowed to do this, so therefore they will only have one pick in next week's draft. Polak should be moved to the long term injury list, and a rookie should replace him on the list. Simple as that. The incident involving Graham Polak was unfortunate, but it is not the same as the one-off incident of Adam Ramanauskas' illness.

Why not, exactly?

Where are these 'all reports' that you speak of? Or are you going off what some Richmond supporter posted as hearsay a page or so earlier.
Did Richmond only find this out today??

It was common knowledge Ramanaskus had had battles with Cancer, and hence when the cancer returned and Essendon wanted to move him onto the special veterans list it made sense.

Polak is different. He got hit by a tram some months ago, not yesterday, not last week. This move to get him onto the vetrans list is a transparent attempt to get Cousins(so it seems) or anoter player onto the playing list.

Eddie sees through it, and I'm tipping many other presidents do as well.

Latest developement: As at 7.55pm Wednesday Collingwood President Eddie McGuire has said they will NOT support this application!

I'm sure he supports Graham Polak being moved to the long-term injury list and being replaced by a rookie, but that is not what Richmond is trying to do. They want to put him onto a mature age rookie list and gain an extra pick to recruit another player. That is surely not on. They can't have their cake and eat it too. They either keep Polak and replace him with a rookie, or they delist him and then gain a second pick in next weeks draft.
They would still only have the same amount of players though wouldn't they, considering Polak would take the spot of a rookie? I can't see any reasonable argument that suggests to me that it should not be allowed.
Of course it shouldn't be allowed. If a player gets injured, then he is replaced with a player from the rookie list. What Richmond wants to do is replace him with a player from next weeks draft, and that is not on, and I'm sure all of the other clubs realise this.
Isn't that exactly what Essendon did with Ramanauskas? There was no reason why they couldn't put him on the LTI list either.
He should be placed on the long-term injury list and a rookie should be promoted. He should not be placed on a mature age rookie list so they can recruit another player.

Because Richmond have already stated they will pick up a youngster with PSD pick 6.
