Tom- Nope
Dusty-Nope
MaJR- nope
Shai- nope
Cotch-nope

Bench spot maybe? But do you carry a mid Sized fwd only on the bench.

Don’t get me wrong I really like Cumbo and want him in the side. But not sure what role he plays
Think we'll see a lot of Bolton in the middle. Big fan of Cumbo and there's definitely a spot for him. Lot of upside there the kid could be anything with another 20-30 games under his belt. We'd be dumb not to regularly play him after what he showed last year

I never realized how dangerous Taranto is fwd, he is weapon around fwd stoppages. I can see Martin, Bolton & Jack just spreading defences open this year leaving Lynch and the crumbing goalsneaks MRJ/Cumbo/Clarke/Cotchin/Taranto (whoever it is) the space to have a field day. Balta & Vlastuin were standouts in defence. Thought Taranto/Hopper/Prestia worked well for their first game against opposition, the only real disappointment is Nank not able to hit a target at center bounces. But overall it was a good hitout first up, alot to be happy with.

I haven't seen the game today but judging by the posts here it seems our clearances still need work and our backline was a bit shaky - two of the two key issues for us last year. Am I reading that right? I know it was a praccy and there were a few players we can expect back but it was against last year's wooden spooner and they had more scoring shots than us - should we be concerned about these areas? Or have I misread things.

I'm concerned about Cumberland. I think it seems increasingly probable that we will be playing Cotchin in his spot this year just to ensure Trent is in the team. I think this is a mistake. Cumberland is a far better natural forward than Cotch. He creates and kicks goals that is not part of Cotchin's skill-set. Play Cotchin off the bench and let Cumberland establish himself in the role he excelled in last year.

If Cumberland begins the season at VFL level, not only do I think that would be a travesty to his confidence but also to our forwardline strength and diversity. Cotchin is a great player and leader of this club, but he's a midfielder not a forward.

100% agree. We all love Cotch but I wouldn't have him ahead of Cumberland in the fwd line. I reckon Cumbo will play V the Dees next Saturday in the official practice match.

Straight up, wtf was short doing attending 100% of centre bounces. That spot should be a rotation of bolton sonsie and martin. Or just have prestia taranto and hopper. He doesnt win clearances. I dont understand how thats are centre clearance stoppage set up. How it requires a player like short to just sit on the outside and wait for a lucky bounce or handball. Prestia and taranto together worked well. If we need speed in there just put prestia or bolton.

Shouldve traded him. hes a half back flanker and a very good one. but hes not a mid.

Martin looked as damaging as ever everytime he went near the ball.

Watched it now, nothing overly concerning. The conditions, rust and weird disjointed nature of the game because it was match sim not a real praccy made it feel hard for the game to flow.

Centre bounces were the most concerning thing if minor, but we’ve got 5 good centre bounce players in Taranto, Prestia, Hopper, Dusty and Bolton. So only if that keeps happenings will I worry.

Dusty did at least 6 Dusty things, his 2 goals were class, standing up in the LDU tackle was unbelievably strong, another couple of don’t argues, and his vision for the kick that almost hit Cotchin 90 degree kick with one hand and a north player hanging off him was ridiculous and not sure anyone else in the league has the vision to see it, let alone even attempt it.

Prestia was just Prestia, **** he is good.

Taranto was just Prestia but 10cm taller, **** he is also good.

Judson Clarke, that work rate alone is incredible, add it with the kick and we have a real exciting 2021 draft class with just him, Sonsie and Gibcus.

The rest was good/solid without really being great. Short and Rioli probably the most disappointing, not awful but just well below what we know they can do.
