We've had elite KPD's throughout the journey but it's been a problem for a decade

First half means nothing when you come out like scared school boy's in the second when we had the game in our hands.
You know if we went in 40 down at HT we would of lost by 100.

That sums up the club over the last decade. This isn’t just a tonight thing but symbolic of so much more.

There are people on this forum that are far more educated when it comes to Essendon than I am. I’m sure none of them, like myself, could feel even the slightest bit comfortable when the margin was 40 points. Quite literally the most mentally weak club in the competition.

Cost ourselves one of our 5 wins for this season tonight and handed Hawthorn one of their few wins for the year. It wouldn’t matter who is coaching this broken club, we would still be utterly pathetic.

All they had to do was play defensive but they all ran forward for a cheap goal.

Was always going to be a development year. A few of our younger blokes showed a bit. Yeah loosing sucks, but “burn the club to the ground”? Get your hand off it.

Lol we have been saying this for 16 years...

How long does one keep having perspective before simply walking away? Year after year same old crap, development year or not.

The club is an utter joke.

Bad kicking is bad football and we kick like we've never held a football before.
**** knows how you go from our 2nd qtr to our 3rd, but we've seen this crap to many times. Of we can't hold off teams like Hawthorn (who fought back well) its going to be another barren and wasted season.
Caldwell looked the goods, the kids did some nice things, Draper continues to build, Hind was ok and Merret and McGrath were good. But it was too few trying to do too much. Heppell faded badly (not that surprising with how much he's missed).
Laverde and Francis are too flaky to be relied on down back. Cahill still needs some seasoning in the twos.

God knows what happens from here because I don't have a tonne of confidence in this teams mental makeup and fortitude

Team defence was poor too. Players not running back on the turnover, one way running.

Needs to get better if we’re going anywhere.

To be fair to Francis he had a lot to do now that Hurley and Hooker no longer there. Still learning to be key back. Did a lot I thought. He was not the reason we lost this game.

It seems slightly silly to nitpick one mistake when we've blown a 40 point lead and it feels like we spent most of the 2nd half going at about 20% disposal efficiency... but that was really bloody silly stuff by Shiel from the center bounce after we got the lead back. He needed to kill the ball, not handball it aimlessly forward. Extremely dumb football.

Or at least just soccer it in to our forward line
