AFL Autopsy Rnd 12: Loss to the Tigers

The umpiring tonight was deplorable but the thing that really cost us was our inability to cover Richmond’s spread. It looked like a training drill for them at times.

Injuries on the other hand. Our depth is really going to be challenged now. All our fit players not in the firsts are project talls.

Thought the Bombers had us on toast.

Umpires made some woeful decision on HTB.

Tetley Tiger

Thought the opposite. Loved the fight from the boys to get back into the game in Q4 but thought Richmond moved the ball far too easily tonight and the margin probably reflected the result- just in a rollercoster type of way.

Still, haven't been this positive as an essendon fan in a long time.

Richmond supporting step brother already telling me that Parish is sh*t because he's "not influential even though he gets lots of touches". I swear to god the average Tigers supporter has absolutely no idea about football.

Disappointing night.
Tell him Knights, Campbell etc were obviously all shit too given the lack of success during their careers. If they were good they would've been more influential resulting in Richmond wins.

We can't keep using Cox in the ruck. He is hopeless at it and just going to get wrecked. Need 2MP back or play Draper and Phillips together.
Draper and Wright should be back next game

Bryan needs to work on his forward craft as I expect him to be rotating there with draper for years to come. Hindsight, should've played Bryan. But Phillips performed well recently.

But frustrating to see cox ruck. He gets slaughtered. Need him around the ground.

It'll sound like whinging after a loss to many, but I genuinely don't know what the rule is any more. When I was a kid playing, if you got tackled, you needed to quickly kick or handball or you'd be pinged. If you dropped it, incorrect disposal. If you held onto it for too long (for example, a 360 spin), you were holding the ball. It was all pretty simple.

That's clearly not the rule now, but I'm not sure what the rule has changed to. Impossible to infer from the decisions given in any given match.
Nah mate, you're not confused. The umps are.
****ing woeful.

If the VFL side play in a fortnight he should be able to split time with Phillips there

Just need a reliable stop-gap until reid comes on. Stewart trying but just not up to it currently.

I'm ok with one of Stewart or BZT. Anyone better is likely to cost too much, and another stop-gap would seem to go against the philosophy of what Rutten is trying to do with the back six.

Hopefully Reid comes in soon and is good enough to stay in so this becomes a non-issue.

Richmond are one of the best teams at this. We rushed at them and they were ready.

Our forward pressure was lacking at times. Love Waterman but he can be shown up for pace at times.

We never gave up though and in the past that is a 80 point loss. Score flattered the Tigers in the end.

Perfect time for the bye, refresh the kids & hopefully get 2MP, Draper in.
