Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

North are a lot better than Essendon, always a danger game against them. Can't see many if any changes for this week. I guess Bower, Carrazzo and Russell, are chances. Ellard or Curnow might make way for Carrazzo. Twomey could make way for Carrazzo and Armfield and Carrazzo could pinch hit forward. I feel we are trying to get Curnow back and going in form and that Ellard is just not performing to the standard we want. Davies was alright but Bower could replace him. Russell would replace Touhy.

Another big Job for Henderson this week on Petrie.

Next week Waite is a chance to return and could replace Twomey but it's hard to say.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Much tougher task this week, North have been playing well consistently, their marking talls will bother us.

Be good to get Waite and Carrazzo back, I would make maybe two changes, out Touhy and Curnow

Waite is back?

Not good for us.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Would be awesome if Freo beat WCE tonight and widened the gap.

This is the draw coming up for us and WCE and predicitions.

Carlton WCE
19. Kangaroos Dogs (Melb) W W
20. Melbourne Rich (PS) W W
21. Fre (PS) Mel (ES) W maybe W
22. Haw Ess (PS) Even W
23. BYE Bris (Gabba) Bye W
24. St K Ade (PS) Even W

West Coast have a stupidly easy draw to finish the season so if we drop a game we are pretty much out of the top 4. Any more games like the bulldogs one and we are in trouble.

May want to include Hawthorn in this, they are only 2 points ahead of us

They have

Freo (PS) , North (AU), Port (MCG), Blues (ES), Dogs (MCG), Suns (MS)

Couple of easy ones you would say, but the others ??

So this week is a must for us, I reckon we can nail it

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

We have no excuse for not beating north. They are in form and they have a reasonable side but they are not as good as carlton.

WCEs probably see the dogs as a danger game but I really don't rate them. We really should hve not lost to them.

Hawthorn would not be confident about beating us and probably see games against the roos and the dogs as danger games.

The kangaroos game is a danger game for us. Always has been.
Melbourne will be a win although you know they will come out firing after the "bruise free footy" thing.
Fremantle over there is a big challenge for us. We have struggled to beat Freo over the last few years.
Hawthorn are a team with the wood on us and will take some beating.
St. Kilda are red hot and will still be. We are coming off a bye so will likely be flat.

As far as I can see we have a really tough run home. We could easily win every game but if we are to finish top 4 we are going to have to earn it.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

We must bring our A game otherwise we'll struggle. They have been one of our bogey teams over the last few years and lift when they play us. The 2010 performance still haunts me.

We've got to get down, dirty and match their intensity.

Blue boner spirit?

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

NM will be a real tough test. They always lift against us and they play well at Etihad where we are less superior compared to the G. NM have a lot of quality youngsters. I feel we can really get them in defence with our small forwards. They don't really have any natural matchups for Jeff or Eddie. Our biggest dangers are Wells and Petrie, not to mention Harvey who usually dominates against us.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

McIntosh will also be ready to go if we decide to give him a game.

I don't think we can afford to take a punt on two ruckman at this stage of the season.

Carlton and Hawthorn are the next two games. We can afford to lose one but lose both and the season is done. This match is too important.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

IN: Carrazzo, Russell
OUT: Curnow, Twomey

agreed with that.

But i think we need to a target at FF, and one more tall down back.

Setanta and Bower if available. If not Bower, then possilby White.

Davies out for one of them, Touhy may have to come out due to injury.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Davies has to come out. Is not good enough at the moment, and we must start settling a best 22 running into finals. He comes out before either of Tuohy or Twomey do.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Nice preview.

Really looking forward to this game will be good to see how we match up against a top 4 contender (excluding Geelong and Collingwood *shudder*).

Am hopeful for a win and its not out of the question but reckon Blues by 16pts.

Brady and McMahon will have to shutdown Garlett and Betts if we are to have a chance. Also need our talls to fire Petrie, Hansen/Pedersen and Edwards.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Norf in form? Pies beat them by 120.

We will destroy them.

Yes this is the attitude we must take NO PASSENGERS! I am still utterly disgusted by that crappy loss to Footescray, two matches I've been to this year an we LOST! AND TO FILTHY FOOTESCRAY! See what it's like sitting in amongst idiot footscray supporters and dropping a 27 point lead to a team that got annihilated by Weagles and then lose to North who got annhilated by the Pies! Seriously if we can't beat a crappy no-hoper team like North, let alone Footescray we really aren't that good!!

No mercy on this lot, that are like getting an eyelash in yr eye or having a really itchy haemorroid!

Doutta Stars would have beaten us by 12 goals that day.

Could we play that bad twice in the same season?

I doubt it.

If you want to watch us win go to the Richmond game.

I somehow suspect you prefer us losing

And we beat Essendon in 99. Essendon beat Brisbane midway through 2000 and Brisbane repeatedly beat Collingwood in a grand final. Hence we beat Collingwood in consecutive grand finals.

3 weeks ago form isn't now form. North Melbourne have won their last two. and we are coming off a big win, hence both teams are in good form. Its not rocket science

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

North Melbourne were somewhat struggling, and North Melbourne prevailed in a Lindsay Thomas 7 goal inspired 'shinboner' like performance on the eve of a historic date (someone please enlighten me on what it was so i can edit this post)

I don't believe there was any significant milestone for that game, I think Pratt was playing 100 games but nothing worth getting excited about from memory.

A lot of changes for us from the team last year.

Out: McIntosh, Grima, Thomas, Cunnington, Pratt, Garlett, Wright and Lower
In: Petrie, Pedersen, Tarrant, Edwards, Harper, Adams, Macmillan and Richardson.

Our forward line will be massively different to the one last year, our 3 key forward will likely be Petrie, Pedersen and Edwards. Goldstein has also been massive for us this year.

I am looking forward to seeing how our midfield goes against Carlton, was disappointed with the effort against Collingwood so I think/hope there will be more of a focus to stand up against another good midfield group.

NAhh there was a big pregame shebang with fireworks inside- I remember as it wasn't the smartest idea inside Etihad Stadium. Also remember firework number 30 or 45, I'm not sure which...

Jog anyones memory?

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Lindsay Thomas had the game of his life against us last year which was extremely annoying. Reckon North would take a punt on a repeat performance?

Betts had his this week, u think he'll do it again this week?? LT will be playing this week.......gives you something to think if he does, doesn't it?? his partner in crime has been playing and LT had his "time away" he still has had his chances when you look at his stats, Im tipping perfect time to bring him back.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

They're all must wins now if we are to make the top four, but we also need to reverse North's dominance of us last year and beyond.

If we lose expect to hear "Flat track bullies" bandied around, and with some justification.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

This weeks ins and outs

In:Carrazzo, Russell, McLean, Bower

Out: Ellard, Twomey, Curnow, Thornton

Obviously after a 74 point win they will rarely make 4 changes but the main one for me is McLean in for Curnow. Give Brock a go MC!!!!!!
