I don't understand why plowman is such a whipping boy. People don't seem to notice the amount of times he is involved in a 2 on 1 in the backline as well as how often he beats his own opponent.

The reason he gets to those 2 on 1s is because of his workrate and read of the play. And he's not often outright beaten even though he gets the worst match up every week

Who else has had to guard both Charlie Cameron and Jack Darling.

His disposal and decision making can be suspect. But so has our whole team this year.

Conveniently forgotten by many.
Plow taking the awkward matchups means other players get easier matchups.
Plow is way under appreciated.

Plowman has always been pretty solid defensively. His errors are generally with his disposal. I don't think he makes more mistakes than anyone else on the team but his mistakes tend to be complete howlers so they're more memorable.

The issue I have with Plow is that he's always on an awkward matchup because he's not tall enough to play on the key talls and not quick enough or agile enough to play on the third talls (most) or the smalls. That's his limitations. He busts his gut each week on these tough matchups and as such has some moments which look horrendous, and hence people pick him apart, but he battles away as best he can. I like Plow so it's a tough one given he's asked to take matchups which don't suit him, but unfortunately not many matchups do suit him.

The reality is we need to move past Plowman IMO. I'm just not sure we have someone suitable to step into that role. Maybe McGovern could work I'm not sure.

I think it’s more that his mistakes occur in the backline (where he’s playing) and therefore can cost goals, rather than being bigger howlers than other players. People tend to focus on mistakes which cost goals defensively, rather than mistakes which cost goals offensively.

defense certainly has less margin for error. He just needs to play within his limitations.

I'm not sure why we don't give weitering more aggressive kicking duties in the back half. His kicking skills is why he was pick 1.

If there was any player in the back 6 id want kicking 40m into the corridor it is weitering. I just wonder if when he doesn't pull it off he loses too much confidence

Completely disagree.

I’ve seen Geelong isolate Danger (at his absolute peak when he was unstoppable) deep forward against Plow a few years ago trying to get some easy goals.

Plowman repeatedly thrashed him in one v ones.

He is perfect against most 3rd talls and Danger/DeGoey types. But is often given the mismatch.

IMHO - often so Marchbank gets a softer opponent or because we don’t have a Neville Jetta/Nick Smith type small lockdown defender.

Surprised this is not obvious to people who pot him.

Agree Plow did well in most of the 1 on 1's with Jack.

Suppose Lang might make way if Cunners comes in while Kennedy was quiet he has more form to fall back on.

Would like to see Deluca given some minutes in the middle to see how he goes, don't recall him there on weekend at all.
If McGovern and Jones return, it's hard to see Kennedy's role in the side. If Cuningham, Thomas and Kreuzer all return as well, he's surely out of the team. Giving his all, but needs to get fitter/more mobile.

Can't blame it all on his ankle niggles when it's been an issue since his junior days.

It's because he's not a true tall, and he doesn't provide a heap of rebound, so when he turns it over the people who watched McKay and Doull strut their stuff - but haven't learnt anything about football tactics for 20 years - lose their ****ing minds.

I mean yeah, we've not really been tactically decipherable for most of that, but if you're devoting 8+ hours a week for something, maybe you can start to put the pieces together a bit more consistently?

True, but his worst games aren't good enough. His best games are first class through. I like the way he compliments Jones and Weits. Already a valuable player and still improving.

Yep.. im sure the triple coleman medalist is quaking in his boots!
Lachie Henderson used to lock him down for us. Sometimes a gun key forward will just get away from you no matter what you do. Have seen Reiwoldt beaten his fair share for a 3x Coleman.

Edit* now I see you're actually a Richmond troll you sad sad soulless creature. Adios mother****er.

What a loser. Just another example of how insecure Richmond supporters are. They have been so unsuccessful over time, they are desperate to get acknowledgment for every single thing they can. They know if they don't win this year 2017 will just be seen as a flash in the pan. God I hope it happens.
Don't have any feeling that Tiges will make Granny this year. I know I'm in the minority though.
Agree with Daisy Pearce that it will be Eagles V Lions.

Nah i'm picking Eagles vs Richmond.

Mainly due to their experience.

Finals are a different ball game and it would be rare and very impressive if Brisbane made the Grand Final despite not even having made finals for 10 years prior.
