- Lambert, Pickett, absolutely destroyed in the midfield.
- Comprehensively beaten across the board.

Some interesting takes in this thread, particularly to do with the umpiring.

Disgraceful decisions FOR us singlehandedly kept us in the game in the first half. It’s okay to complain about the umpiring, it’s been shocking. But it rubs both ways.

In regards to the game itself, we were nowhere near it. Look at our inside 50 count. We were comprehensively beaten.

but that’s okay. I don’t believe in Port (Particularly Ken Hinkley. The media fellation and subsequent egotism will be a real issue for Port this year as it has been in the past.)

I’m comfortable we would be able to account for them with a few less kids and not having such a shocking day overall - and of course, port would need to be that red hot again. They were legitimately white hot today. Anyone would have lost.


Bolton, balta and Chol have earned spots. The rest can fight it out with the returning senior players.

Credit where it's due Port were very good and we did well to stay in it. Thought our run might pinch it in the last but our dismal centre clearances cooked that.

Egg - Not up to it in high pressure games.

Rioli - Worst first half I have seen. Not up to it. To be fair his second half was better.

Castagna - No where to be seen.

Lambert - Poor again today. I wouldn't mind pushing Caddy out of the 22 on Lambert into the wing.

Balta - Will learn from that. Needs to hold position when under the ball rather than give away those frees the umps will always pay.

Lynch - I hope it's the hand because he is not earning his $$$ this year.

Pickett - Don't think he is up to it. Should be a depth player.

Caddy - Could be done if we can bring in some more midfield talent.

Super proud of our effort tonight. Coming off a 4 day break, missing our whole first choice midfield and ruck, a full strength Port at home playing their GF running their little leggies off but we still led them at 3/4 time. We were running on empty in that last Qtr. Reamed by the umpires AGAIN. 22 to 11 in the end. No matter how much the media will sugarcoat how great they THINK Port are let's just until the finals when hopefully we are at full strength on a neutral ground. God help Port!! As for Eddie McGuire I watched the whole 2nd half with the volume turned down. Listening to that campaigner rambling on in lockdown is depressing. He can GAGF!!!! How the AFL let him work for Foxtel I'll never know. Rant over
