This idea that you can just go out and recruit the competing forward/ruck for 400k a year instead of Lobb's 500k is just silly. Supply and demand forces these salaries and there just isn't a supply of key forwards that you'd feel comfortable taking more than about 10% of ruck contests in a game across the league.

On the other hand you have the likes of Pies fans here who believe that Rory Lobb wouldn't be an upgrade over someone like Mason Cox, so common sense doesn't seem to take charge here.

36 goals when you're playing as a teams key forward is hardly anything special, in fact its pretty poor from a senior player.

So he was good enough to be considered the best key forward for a team. While rucking at the same time. That has to count for something.

I just don't see how someone like him is any sort of good fit and culture-builder for a team of impressionable youth.

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with chasing the money and wanting an easy ride without having to work too hard for it. It's just not what North need.

This is a bit laughable tbh.

Seeking a trade isn’t the same as being a culture cancer or wanting an easy ride. He played 20 games and kicked 24 goals for us last year. The year prior he lead Freo’s goal kicking. He’s been arguably our best VFL player this year. There’s no indication he’s sulked or been some malignant presence at the club while stuck in the VFL. And he’s not perpetually unavailable like a Brayden Preuss.

What’s he supposed to do, break Sam Darcy’s legs? He clearly wants to play at AFL level but he’s just an injury reserve for us now. Good luck to him, I hope he finds a good fit.

to Freo wasn't on the cards so long ago, for the same reason Melbourne also backed away from the Adam Cerra deal.
