And Frost?
Didn't 2MP kick 6 on him at Marvel in 2022? Haven't played on eachother since. It's not a good matchup. Frost will play on Stringer now that Phillips has been signed up. We don't want Sicily anywhere near their key forwards. Likewise Weddle so we're effectively playing 2 key talls plus Scrimshaw. Not sure what the issue is.

No chance. Too many tall defenders.
There not being asked to play as tall defenders. There's 2 pure stoppers and everyone else attacking. Weddle could easily play small if he needs to the bloke is quick. Scrimshaw will potentially play on Langford. You still need the right matchups. Frost and Weddle are quick and agile not slow and cumbersome. Would much rather a plethora of athletic talls than undersized Backman asked to play tall.

Don’t like betting and don’t advocate betting. I do like to see how the odds makers are looking at games, however, and I don’t like what they are saying about round one. Essendon are 8.5 point favourites.

Apologies for making mods delete this content if it isn’t allowed.

Fair call.

I’d play Phillips ahead of Frost. In fact I’d play practically anyone on our list with a pulse ahead Frost. I’m not sure how I’ll cope watching him flap about like a fish out of water should he get a call up. FWIW, Phillips highlight package is impressive, the boy has a clean pair of hands and reads the ball well in the air.
Dude, he’s never been dropped ever at hawthorn and is playing in all the probable line ups. He’s playing.

These posts designed to purely insult a guy who’s bled for the club are poor.

Outside 2MP do the dons have anyone that tall? Langford and stringer are bigger bodies but only 192cm. Not sure if Harrison jones is fit.

If the ball is coming in quick and under no pressure 2MP will kick goals on most.

Going too tall down back will kill our rebound - and most of our scoring is based on quick transition.

I was watching the intraclub last week and just happened to sit next to Nathan Buckley who was sitting behind David King. I was minding my own business but couldn't help listen to what that had to say about the game. They had a lengthy discussion about how many goals Nick Watson would kick this year. They thought he could kick 28+ but if he kicked at least 40 he would win the rising star. It is fair to say the Wizard is probably a lock for round 1. Towards the end of the game I was surprised that Sam Mitchell came over to say hello to Nathan and David and sat right next to me and chatted with the boys for a good 10 minutes. They had been impressed with Henry Hustwaite and asked Sam about his future and Sam simply replied that it would be very difficult not to pick him for the round 1 team based on current form. As per the intraclub game Mabior Chol will likely play out of the goal square or in the ruck as he probably doesn't have the tank to play high half forward. This may change in time. Anyway as he kicked 5 goals you would suggest not much needs to change.

Interesting thing though is David King had been impressed with a Box Hill player and asked Sam who it was. He replied Ethan Phillips.

I'm just imagining you staring intently at your phone during this whole conversation doing your best to appear totally disinterested in what was being said 😂

Very close I reckon. Moore probably won't be ready after glandular fever so replace him with Watson at HF and bring Hustwaite onto the I/C bench. Maginness will play if the gameplan requires a hard tagging role (Merrett) but not sure who he replaces. If Maginness isn't tagging he needs to develop his game a lot further to claim a spot IMO.

Anyway, I'm sure the magnets will change a bit after the match sim and practice game v the doggies.

Added Moore because he'll be touch and go and hasn't been ruled out yet. But that's a fair assessment!

I'd have to think I posted the only side WITH Harry Morrison included, but we have a couple of injuries and he offers some experience and you know what you'll get from him.

Hustwaite is in 100% he has impressed over the summer. D'Ambrosio should start on a wing. His footskills are elite which Mitchell really rates.

I've heard/read that his speed is good. Has anyone witnessed this or can comment?

What's his tank like - good enough to play Wing?

I still think that we need to play two tall defenders to free up Sicily, Weddle & Scrim to attack. Serong is the perfect matchup for Langford.
