FFS HOW DOES JACKSON GET A BLOODY GIG?

And don't bore me with he "plays his role". He is an absolute dud, with no skills, he's not agile, he's slow and he makes the wrong decisions, time and time again. From what i've seen in the limited time of Vlastuin he is 100 times the player of Jackson. He's quick, good hands in traffic, and makes good decisions. Another hack is McGuane. You watch how many mistakes and free kicks he gives away tomorrow. Why not play White instead of McGuane and Vlastuin instead of Jackson? Dimma playing favourites...AGAIN.
Jackson and King play defensive forward roles and they generally play them well, as long as Jackson doesn't play as a inside mid he is a good player.

This exact side couldn't beat Carlton in or 2011 and we had Grimes and Foles in..

Can't see how we'll beat them with just Chaplin in there.

Understand what you are saying. The improve has to come from guys like Edwards, Houli, Cotchin, Conca, Vickery, Rance etc who all now have another 40 games under their belts. In reality, Vlastuin and Petterd were probably never going to be the difference

Oh geezus. I do not care what role Jackson or McGuane play if they compete. They have been tried, played and they have significant limitations as footballers. Why not White instead of Jackson? White's had a very good pre season, but nah Hardwick choosing his favourite spud again. White can kick a goal, is quick, good pressure and actually has decent skills. Hardwick going down the wrong root, will come back to bite him.

Spot on. Just came to post the same thing. Carlton mids will run rings around Jackson.

Getting sick of Hardwick playing favourites and his poor team selections. At least Vlas would have a positive influence, Jackson is a negative influence but will never get dropped.

Griffiths or Vickery to come out if it's raining? Surely one of them will and both were equally shit house against the dogs in the wet but I reckon Batchelor can cover Griffiths

Jeez, must be a helluva good draft this year seeing as we're obviously tanking already. o_O

It's likely to be slippery. This is exactly why Jackson is still in the team. His "skill" set is perfectly suited for high intensity wet footy.

Spot on. From what i've seen of Vlastuin, even at the visy park game against the doggies, he is exactly what we need and what Jackson isn't. Honestly what does Jackson provide? A good tackle, granted. Apart from that bloody nothing FFS. Same with McGuane. He gives away silly freekicks, gets caught with the ball time and time again. He is not a skilled footballer, any other club wanting to make finals would not play this liability. Why not play Griffiths up forward? We have tried to convert enough forwards into backmen. He was drafted AS A FORWARD SO LET HIM DEVELOP THERE HARDWICK. Griffiths instead of McGuane, White instead of Jackson, and liabilities are gone.

Chaplin aside, new blokes are finally having to earn their stripes. A good sign IMO

Agreed. Good to see we're not relying on first year first game players to instantly make us a better side. Will take some adjusting to.

Like others think Batchelor is lucky to be named on the ground.

Wondering who will be the Sub? Not sure Carlton have gone in that tall, so maybe Griff but most likely Ellis IMO.

What "skill set"? Oh the one which takes 10 minutes to process the hand to foot movement, oh the one who smacks people in the head, complains and gives away silly unwarranted 50's. Why does Hardwick want the headache of this media performer?

Lol.

I'm not sure why everyone is up in arms. Petterd has groin soreness otherwise he probably would have made the cut.

As for Vlastuin, Dimma already said that he doesn't have the tank to player 4 quarters yet. And if we are relying on Vlastuin to get us the chocolates, odds on we're not good enough anyway.

Matt White is the stiff one imo, however with Edwards, Nahas and King playing similar roles there is just not a spot for him this week. Will get a crack at it soon though I suspect

I get your point but honestly I'm not sure that white is any better than Jackson. IMO they are about on par, both with different skills they offer the side. The sooner neither of them can get a game the better.
I guess I can understand going into a big Rd 1 game with bigger hard bodies. They reckon is one of the toughest games of the year, and Vlastuin will get plenty of opportunity this year.
