When people hear moon boot they think about pretty serious damage to an ankle/foot. In Cyrils case I'm pretty sure it's more precautionery and to help it heal quicker than not wearing one. He should be good to go by Round 1.
And here I was thinking the moonboot was designed to help him kick the ball further during the NAB matches given goals are worth an extra 3pts from 50out...oops!

No, don't worry. They are changing the arc from 50m to 40m because not getting those 9 pointers is a real problem. Isn't it Dwayne?

Don't worry about the NAB Cup. Let's all focus and talk about Round 1 against the Cats, Best 22, Match strategy, Matchups etc. The NAB Cup is pointless, this week we should not even worry about Richmond and just start preparing for Geelong. The Serious Round 1 talk STARTS NOW.

Hey guys been reading through this forum a bit and was wondering if i could grab some advice from you guys. DOing a draft based DT cash league and im looking at picking up breust. Averaged 75 last year and im expecting him to play a bit more midfield time with young and whiteX gone. What are your thoughts on this? Will he moving into the midfield a bit more this year, or will they leave that to other players and keep him close to goal?

Thanks :)

I see him getting more midfield minutes this season. He's one of 3 Hawks in my Supercoach team (Birchall & Hill being the other two). I see him as a player who could explode this season, much like Beams did last year.

are tix already available? no need for me as ive got a mship but wondering for a mate?

Should we play Ceglar round 1? According to the Hawks website he has 2 career goals and is yet to debut. Impressive record.

Shiels would have to be in doubt for Rd 1 after not being named this week. Hodge shouldn't be picked until he has a couple of games under his belt so that leaves the following line-up for mine

Guerra Lake Stratton
Birchall Schoey Gibson
Smith Mitchell Suckling
Rioli Buddy Gunstan
Bruest Roughie Puopolo
Hale Lewis Sewell
I/C: Burgoyne Ellis Simpkin Sub: Savage

Think we need experienced and hard bodies to tackle Geelong. Whilst I don't rate Ellis that highly based on his output over the past few seasons I'm not sure Round 1 is the time for Hill, Langford or Anderson. They will have their time later in the season.

The flip side to that argument would be that talent alone has not been good enough vs Geelong for 9 straight games. It gets close, but something else it at play. For that reason, why not try a few blokes who won't automatically soil their britches when they see the blue and white stripes as they haven't been privvy to the constant close losses? Who knows, maybe seeing a few new guys playing as if they would vs any other team will help settle those longer-serving hawks that seem spooked by the cats?

Gotta love the bookies:
Hawks - $1.50
Cats - $2.55

Have they not watched any of the last 10 games between our clubs?

I'm guessing you don't bet much. Odds don't really have much to do with how the game will actually go, it's how the punters think it will go. Since people think Hawthorn will win, the odds favour Hawthorn.

I'm putting 50 on the Cats. If we win I'll be crazy happy regardless of the thrown away 50 and if we lose the money will numb the pain a little.

Centrebet currently have
Hawks - $1.45
Cats - $2.75

And turned out I had a $15 bonus bet sitting on my account so just chucked that on the Cats for the same reason as nickrebellious. Difference is that $15 bonus bet was free so it's win-win for me! Hahaha! (though the only true win that would make me happy is a Hawks win!!)

Yep, I think that will be the go.

I normally always say this is a stupid idea and I would never do it, but in this scenario I totally understand and I'm tempted myself. The losses to the cats have been so frustrating of late, if we win and I lose $50, I won't give the slightest f*ck

Take the cats, then hedge it when the Hawks inevitably drift out past $2 at some stage during the game.

If not game to take either team <15.5, then put a bet on each team by <39.5 as they'll be >2:1 odds - will likely end with nothing more than chicken feed though.

Any mixture of team/team/team/cats quarter betting pays nicely too, particularly if the teams chop and change

Personally, I'm taking hawks by 60+* ;)

*assuming we don't give them a 50+ point head start like last time...o_O

Gotta say Grimley's last 2 performances probably has him next ruckman in line on form. Not to say he's been really special but he looks the most likely to impact around the ground and if Hale is our starting ruckman and rough (who kicked 5) is relieved of regular ruck duties then he is a show for the cats.

Clarko has all but confirmed it's an ACL. :(

Expect it opens up a spot for another mid.

FF: Burgers - Roughie - Gunston
