Considering very very few players out there today were on the field in 07 or even on the list for that matter, bringing it up now would just be needlessly perpetuating it's influence on the club. 10 years is a millenium in football.

Reckon you guys are a huge chance here. Geelong is off a 6 day break and I'm still not convinced that their win against the Dogs was that good. Dangerfield played out of his skin - you remove him and the Cats lose by 5 goals. I can't see him doing that 2 weeks in a row. Surely Port's coaching staff has a plan to curb his influence after what they saw last week. If you shut down Patty, you should come away with the win, hell even put two taggers on him if you have to because outside Dangerfield and Selwood there is daylight to Geelong's next best.. I rate Port's midfield and team as a whole one of the most balanced in the league. Port also off a 2 week break. But I'm just curious, how do you guys play after a bye usually? I know some teams come in well prepared but there also seem to be some who are still in holiday mode. I really like Port's odds here at 2.30 for the win, hoping you guys can give me some more confidence to place the bet lol.
Speaking of coming off the bye, Collingwood will be doing so next week - Brisbane are rubbish!!!

Would not surprise me in the slightest if Brisbane won though.... and interestingly enough we play you guys the week after our bye and the week after you play Brisbane at home, so should be a cracker of a game, with both teams nice and rested. In fact I just noticed you guys get them twice this year, nice little percentage booster there, and only 5 weeks in between games with them too.

Ebo to tag the fu £♡ out of Dangerfield. The real Paddy to jack in the box and feed the ball to advantage. Our defence is the Great Wall Of China at the moment. If big Dix can play out of his skin again and our midfeild holds up. May get four points.

I am starting to believe in our consistency again, but I think we can be forgiven for remembering ghosts of the past. There is no reason why we cant win this game. We just need to make sure we are not blown away early, remain calm and composed and stick to our game plan.

We have shown we are very difficult to score against, and I feel like our midfield matches up well with Geelongs.

Our away record is good. Let's hope we can bring our a game. Starting to grow in confidence our game plan is maturing

Nah a Brisbane win would be a momentous result. They've lost their last 8 games by an average of 50 points.

The draw gets more bizarre every year. We play 4 teams twice before we meet the Dogs for the first time in round 22.

Do the teams have to be released tonight given it's a Thursday night game?

I'd actually like to see SPP go with Dangerfield. Tell him to go after him at every contest and try to curb his influence as much as possible. He has had a few quiet games against the better sides so perhaps just focussing on his opponent this week would be a good challenge for him. Certainly has the mongrel in him for it.

Not sure Sam has the tank to go with Dangerfield.

Aye, will need some help but a fair chunk of his time on ground spent on Paddy would be nice. Just enough time to hurt him...legally.

Last weeks win in China was fantastic, simply due to the sheer amount of work that had gone into the game behind the scenes, a loss would've been a massive let down. But the win proved nothing about our finals credentials. There are two giant monkey's on our backs at the moment, one being our inability to beat any side that is a genuine finals contender and our inability to close out any game decided by less than 20 points.

The West Coast loss still burns inside me, quite frankly i'm sick of losing to quality teams and normally by the barest of margins, enough is enough.

Whilst i'd love to have the cats skinned and quartered by half time like we've had the lions, blues, dockers and suns and wouldn't complain if that was to eventuate, a part of me wants this to be a really high intensity game with a tight finish in which we prevail.

Everything to prove this weekend. So far this year we haven't proven anything more than 2015-2016 other than we can kill off the ordinary sides a bit quicker and easier this year, which means stuff all unless we can win games like this.

my thoughts exactly. The only thing Geelong has going for them is the home ground advantage. I think Port has a better all-round team, better rested and you have 1 player on your injury list (which is amazing in itself). I think Port has great odds for this game. And if there is any team that Port would hate more than Adelaide.. it would be Geelong... for reasons I won't mention that happened around 10 years ago.

I won't speak for other Port fans, but I don't hate Geelong. I hate what happened in 2007, but history shows that the Geelong side of 2007-2011 will go down as one of the greatest sides of all time and you have to respect that, despite being the unfortunate lamb to their slaughter.

The cat fans that I have come across since that day have been very respectful of 2007, and understand the importance of 2007 signifying the end of 44 years of pain and heartache. The margin was simply the cherry on top of a delicious cake. Sadly for us, we can't say the same for our vicarious neighbours.

Question is guys, who has the better defense structure. Our percentage at 150% and our PA is 599, compared to Geelongs PA 839 and 117.6%.

One would think ours is at present and if we continue to defend well, it will help us enormously to win this game along with speed.

Its going to be an ugly hard fought game, finals like pitch to this game.

Our midfield needs to be tough at the ball, body on the line game. if you thought winning the game in Shanghai was important, this one in tenfold because there is more to gain regarding points, its almost 8 point game if we win if other sides do what they should do (heres looking at you Bombers, Freo and GWS.

Time to stand and get that respect back....
