Appears lots of 1-sided games this weekend.

Possibly NM v Swans and Freo v St.Kilda may be closer games.

Tonights game the Dees look in big trouble. Just so many injuries to key players.

Tonight's game is a shocker, which AFL moron decided to put Carlton vs Melbourne on a Friday night, it's one of the worst matchups I could think of.

The AFL got a little lucky that Carlton have improved (or maybe other sides have gone backwards, Saints, Dogs etc) because if Carlton were still a bottom of the eight side, this would be a meaningless game.

Blues by 50 (as much as that hurts to say, Dees are shithouse).

Saints won't beat Freo, they struggled to beat the woeful Demons last week, on their home ground, and Freo will run them off their legs with the likes of Fyfe and Hill on the big ground.

Apart from our game, Dogs vs Hawks and Roos vs Swans interest me the most, both games are critical for all 4 sides IMO, although I think the Hawks have found their mojo and the dogs have next to no chance.

I've tipped the Roos, under the roof at Etihad is where they play their best footy, and the Swans without Mumford look shot.

Excited to see a game played at the Suns new stadium, even if the Suns have no chance of winning it.

Predictable game this one, Blues by 39 early in the last quarter, one of the worst Friday Night games in living memory, and the worst thing is Melbourne get another Friday match next week.

Nothing much to report, a few minor injuries, nothing significant has happened at all tonight.

About 5 minutes before halftime, Chri$ Judd gets the ball from a ball up. He takes 2 steps and gets tackled by Colin Sylvia. The ball spills free and goes over the boundary line. Sylvia and Brent Moloney both appeal to the umpire for a free kick. You could hear the umpire say "he tried to handball it, that's all he has to do".

Isn't that incorrect disposal? What's next? Chri$ Judd 3 votes for dropping the ball. It's getting beyond a joke.

Tell me about matty, i'm umlucky enough to be sitting here watching.
Lucky got the computer with me, been on it most of the night..

Carlton are less bad than Melb, that's my match report.

If Melb push us this Queens Bday, it will be unbelievable.

They need a new coach, they have to be better than this by now surely!!!

Gee Scotland is good though...why did he leave again?

Taking Chris Judd out of the equation, the rule is a complete farce. Being legally allowed to drop the ball is

The Judd thing is bad because he doesn't actually try to handball it, he realises his hand is pinned and flings it while pretending to handball. A handball attempt that misses does not result in a ball moving in an upwards trajectory.

Yeah, I don't much like it either but it's fairer than the previous interpretation.

Personally, I'd just adopt the NFL interpretation that you're down as soon as one knee hits the ground. When that happens, HTB. Before then, let them play, and actually penalise throws and drops.

Melbourne need a new coach and a new training staff also, it's the same excuse every year for them, "We have too many injuries".

After a while, that excuse loses it's validity.

As for Scotland, never wished him bad luck, despite the fact he is at Carlton, I never knew why he left us, that was a clear mistake on our part.

Edit: Blues win by 47, enough about that game, let's never speak of it again.

horrible horrible game,

Second efforts as a team total would be single digits for melbourne, desire indicators non-existent, handball off to a team mate and just stand there watching the carlton player chase

awful disposal, fumbling first possessions and terrible decision making

i know they've had injuries, but even some of their experienced players have gone massively backwards

finally, why after making the all australian team as a forward do they persist with Brad Green playing all over the ground!?!?! He can kick them fifty goals a year as a lead up strong forward, or just waffle around the packs pretending to be a midfielder?

I'm reading this at the same time as a caller on SEN is making the exact same point. Maybe you both should write a letter to Dean Bailey.

The Dees have a great list, with so much potential. But you get the feeling they aint going to realise it under Bailey. I would be really surprised if they gave him another year.
Of all upcoming Pies games, the Queens B'dayvs the Dees was the one that i feared the most - after last years nailbiters. But with the injuries/form they have, we should romp it in.

I'm thinking if Sydney can't beat North today then we write them off as any finals threat. Got to win these games. North should have a red hot crack though they were disgraceful last weekend.

St Kilda of previous years would win this game today but I think Freo will win a close one.

As for the rest there's little interest apart from Pies tomorrow. Can't wait to be at the G and watch some real contested footy.

True we have Problems Playing the Dee's and Aaron Davey always play's well against us

Not looking good for them so far. It's early in the year and someone like Bradshaw (if he even plays again) would straighten them up a bit, but I wouldn't have thought of them as a premiership threat anyway.

Goddard injured now for Saints, not going to make their season any better.
No news yet on how seriously he is injured, but you would think he would miss at least a week.

Freo have been disgraceful in this match, it was like they turned up and looked around, saw no Sandilands and said "We can't win".

Massive loss for Freo, they are now in massive doubt even to make the finals, after being touted as a top 4 team.

Watched the 1st quarter and a bit of Freo v St.Kilda. I can't believe the reeming Freo got at home from the umps.

Umpiring seriously needs an overhaul. The inconsistency of interpretations from one contest to the next is mindboggling.

At the top of the list is holding the ball, incorrect disposal, advantage rule and players deliberately ducking the head to draw high contact for a free, when a disposal seems improbable.

Also, only small in stature players get frees for arm chops in marking contests.
