Adelaide v Geelong
Friday 1 November
6:45pm Adelaide time, 7:15pm Melbourne time
GHMBA Stadium

After a close loss to North Melbourne, we play the one side that didn't lose to North Melbourne (so far) this season. This should be another decent Friday night match (albeit in Geelong).

Najwa Allen got through a half of the practice game last weekend, and is considered available for selection this weekend. I wonder if they'll rush her back a bit quicker given that it's the last chance to test her out before the finals?

Ballard will also presumably come back in, although who knows?

I feel like it will be:

Allen in for Boyle-Carr
Ballard in for Waterhouse

I would also prefer they went with anyone else in place of Martin - her skills have been a liability this season. Either bring in Kustermann and have her , Stevie-Lee and Munyard rotating through the forward line for speed/pressure, or give Tarlinton another go as (hopefully) another marking option.

I'd forgotten Kustermann was out. Yes, I would swap her in for Martin if it were my decision.

I had originally written Tarlinton in, Martin out, but somehow I doubt they are going to swap out the shortest player on our list for the tallest one.

Najwa Allen rushed straight back in… funny how without playing you sometimes become a better player in the mind of the coach, they couldn’t wait to drop her at the back end of last year.

Interesting where she plays, wouldn’t be surprising to see her at least started forward, Kustermann back as well, at least her standing within the club has been elevated this year after appearing to maybe be on shaky ground at the end of last year.

As usual no major outs, Boyle-Carr always in line to drop out after looking all at the sea in the past couple of matches & Clarke barely trusted her with any TOG% & Waterhouse just isn’t close to the level, should be the last we see of them at this level - Waterhouse should be kept around the club though seems to be a super clubperson just not in an on-field role.

Ballard kept out still, she’s probably the only player not selected this week that would be half a chance of getting a game in finals.

Is that correct? She was injured from rounds 3-5, and then suspended from rounds 8-10. Played every other match, didn't she?

In any event, the opposite sentiment appears to be true for Ballard. She's gone from very much established in the side to being unable to get back in during her time out. She must be looking at Allen's half-a-match and straight back in with bemusement.

Edit: Oh that's right, I forgot Allen got dropped for the Semi. Mostly because she had only played three matches of football in more than two months.

To be fair, Clarke must be tearing his hair out watching them butcher gettable shots week after week after week. You’d think one might hit the target just out of sheer luck, but we can’t even manage that.

Not much effort or intensity from these players tonight, very much going through the motions. Look like they are treating it like circle work at training
