You might want to check out the last paragraph that I've just added to my post, which talks about what we did in 1997, for instance. You get above other teams by winning more games than them. Like I said, if you get on a roll, anything can happen and others can drop off unexpectedly. It's a long season and everyone thought they knew after round 2 who was going to finish top 4 (Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Carlton/West Coast), yet that has all changed, and a lot can change from here as well.

And there is also an area in between the "bottom part of the 8" (which to me is like 7th/8th) and "top part of the 8".

It said bottom half which is exactly where I think u will be fighting for. This week you are fighting to stay in the 8.

Hope Griff gets a run .. he played really well and can literaly clear it from our back 50 ;)

huge week with the media pumping up tiger tyres.
this week it has all the hallmarks of a richmond failure (idgaf might have to bump his thread).

i dont like the hype but i think we will win and win well

With Coburg having the bye it will be a straight swap for Maric. Worst part is i would hate to see Ellis have his third straight gig as the sub, but i cant see any other choice.

Actually Bazz, Ellis wasn't sub last game, but was subbed out for Maric from memory. They're possibly happy to give him limited game time for now, to keep him fresh. Didn't seem to hurt Gaff playing sub most weeks last year, he's had a stellar season so far this year.

Which talls?
Rance definitely to Nicky.
I reckon best leave Kosi go by himself. By half time he'll have taken out the rest of the Saints Forward line.
But yes, Grif is sure to play on him.

Actually that's a good point.

Playing Griff (injury prone) on Kosi (accident prone) could be a recipe for disaster.

I love how Scott Watters is trying to turn the heat up on us... On the Herald Sun site he's stating that our midfield is the best in the comp!

Hardwick has already replied in saying our mids have along way to go!

The mind games have started, but Watters should acknowledge that Hayes, Dal Santo, Goddard and Montagna & co have been around much longer than most our onballers & are more mature with bigger bodies.

I just read Dimma's reply.
Watters served up a 220km/h thunderbolt and Dimma returned with a cross court winner. love-15.

No mention at all about our forward and back lines...maybe he doesn't rate us in those areas?

He also states that their winning streak against us means nothing and very few of his players were around then. Maybe he should face the music and accept the fact that Reiwoldt, Goddard, Kozzie, Hayes, Milne and Ball (now a Magpie) were there during our last triumph in '03!

I'm as confident about this game as I was against Sydney a few weeks back. St Kilda are shot by injuries, not exactly to key players but their structure is greatly affected.

They essentially have to rob peter to pay paul in terms of playing Blake in the ruck, and without Sam Fisher and Geary their backline is running thin. Gilbert will have to play tall, goddard or dal will have to play as a HBF, which affects their midfield.

Kosi will have to play stints in the Ruck, which makes us missing Dylan Grimes hurt a whole lot less. The small forwards are the danger but 95% of the time they cant have enough impact to win you a game off their own boot.

We finally have a suitable matchup for milne- morris will absolutely smash him. Saad and Milera arent exactly going to put the saints on their back.

Midfield wise i think we have them covered going on form:

Lets say Cotchin and Hayes are equal (even though Cotch has him covered)
Lets say Lids and Goddard are equal (even though lids has had a better year)
Lets say Grigg and Montagna are having similar years (even though Grigg is ahead)
Lets say Tuck and Dal Santo have had similar years (even though Tuck has shown a level of consistency that Dal could only dream about)
Lets say Farran Ray and Foley are equal (LOL!)
and for arguments sake lets say Jack Steven takes the choccies over Conca
That leaves us one Dustin Martin ahead of the saints midfield (its not like Clint Jones is going to do anything offensively)... expect Dusty to have a monster game. He does love etihad stadium!

I've tipped the tiges by 32 points

I can see it now.

Richmond down by 2-3 goals at half time, Dimma takes everyone into the change rooms and gives an inspirational speech, Ivan's mullet shines, Martins arms bulge, Kings pecks dance, this is our moment they all roar.

Out onto the field they run for the third quarter and bring it home at the final siren, 118 to 76 in their favour.

Armitage is the one who flogged us last year.

Newman is the only player in our side who played the last time we beat the Saints.

BTW here is another little fact. Since 2000 this will be the 20th H&A game between the 2 sides. The Saints have had 11 home games including tomorrow night. Of our 9 home games only 3 have been at the MCG, that means we've played 6 home games at the Saints home ground against them. Any wonder they have such a long winning record against us.

Yep, looking at those stats, I'd conclude that over the past twelve years we've been mainly shite, and they've mainly been pretty good ;)

Seriously, I can't possibly see how playing at Etihad could be a negative for our players and gameplan. It suits teams that have good ball use efficiency and like to run. Can't say I saw any issues playing there against the Eagles.
