Autopsy Round 11, 2021: Suns burn Hawks

As good as we were and the list decisions we made throughout 2010 - 2015 especially.

We have absolutely botched our list decisions since.

Least we know where we are now. Can only move forward from here. No more trading for the "cheap/bargain" types like the Phillips/Pattons etc. It just leaves you floating in no man's land.

Draft/trade for good users only from here on to help turn this ship around.

yep the real problem is our drafting and development through our 3peat and fufk it fair enough

so, on my toilet I have the 2014 and 15 afl records that tell us our lists and games played. I take a shit every now and then, as you do, and look at our players

Mate we had Harting, Litherland, lowden, simpkin, brand etc. all getting games then

I take my shit and look at our list of under 23s and think Thank God For James Sicily

the problems we have now started then. Not much we can do about it now but hope we beat Essendon in a couple of weeks time and draft some ****ing legit blokes like William Day again

I thought North was rock bottom. This was worse.

I cant see where the bottom is.

When does Clarko jump?

This entire club needs a reset.

Why the fk are we playing duds like Phillips??. It's embarrassing.

Where to from here? Who knows. But this rebuild could take years now.

When was it not going to take years?

Well I don't know about you lot, but I'm pleased TOB was gifted yet another AFL game at the expense of literally any of our youngster that missed out.

TOB provided that experience we sorely lack, and he probably brought the ball to ground. The highlight was he had a whole entire 4 marks for the game. That's probably a season high for him.
Your constant focus on and dislike of TOB is almost pathological.

Disagree with some of the comments here, I thought worpel and shiels tried their guts out.
Moore, reeves and scrimshaw were good. Chad and impy also.
cousins looks composed and goes in hard, but disposal let’s him down.

disappointed in Lewis, both effort and body language.
breust and O’Brien invisible
Mitchell zero impact unfortunately

oh yeah also been a Phillips defender but he's been bad since the adelaide game

he's young enough to turn it around though

also let's be real, having Finn and Brockman in this team or having one or two players out makes no difference.

The real changes need to be made at the post season

No doubt being up for so long and making trades to help us win flags has hurt the long run. That's just inevitable. We would do those everyday of the week again.

However it aint just that though. Since 2016 we have made trades that have put us even further into this mess and we simply overrated the players and list we had. We made some baffling decisions looking back now. This happens to every club at times.

All I want to see is how we go forward from here. Big decisions to be made.

It will. Expecting a clean out, not just seniors but fringe kids we clearly don’t rate as well.

of course it's more than just that, but we need a base of 24-28 year olds in their prime that we simply don't have

a lot of work to do, but I'll support it every step of the way. As bad as tonight was, how good was seeing a few of the blokes kick their first?

Almost makes it worth it

our supporters are speaking hard truths ....the board and coaching panel need to hear the truth not blind faith
Nothing wrong with hard truths. Just wish "supporters" remembered that they are talking about fellow human beings, human beings who are actually doing their best, and who will ultimately do far more for the club than those on here to whom I refer.
(Also, a lot of those "hard truths" are moronic drivel,.)

Not sure why everyone is sticking the boot in Shiels.

He wasn't great but he still won more ball than any other Hawthorn player. Plenty more talented players who were far worse.
Did you watch the game or just read the stat sheet? His disposal efficiency was 4th worst for Hawthorn being pipped by Cousins, Phillips and Morris, who only had three touches.

His disposal was deplorable tonight. Sadly, he might be done. He has been a huge stalwart for Hawthorn. Holds the club record for the highest tackles in a single game, three premierships. But tonight nothing had any penetration. Last week I thought he copped a fair bit of stick unfairly, and the coaches vindicated that giving him coaches' votes, but tonight's game was poor. Every kick floated forever before reaching the intended target who, by the time the ball arrived, was spoiled.
