Honestly, tag me later tonight so I can reply to this.

Short reply, new rules around matching Father Sons and Academy kids, and the introduction of Tassie, potentially impact our ability to trade in a genuine quality mid over the next 4 drafts, and still be able to match our top academy kid.

Lucky we're gettithe bulk of the draft haul this year.

There will always be room for trades. If the Suns and Giants period showed us anything, it's that it's a terrible time to bottom out but a great time when you're a good team already up. We'll have enough talent to be up.

You highlighted his run down tackles to dispute a post about his lack of speed..

I’ve seen Bailey get ran down by Sean Darcy. Does that make Darcy a speedster?

Have you ever heard the phrase "there's an exception to every rule"?

Given one of the main issues with slow mids is their defensive spread his ability to run players down would indicate his speed isn't such an issue

Well that was really weak.

Hawthorn weren't particularly good but we just let them off the chain with spasmodic efforts , poor kicking and a couple of total passengers.

Let's face it ,look at our body of work this year ,we're actually not much good and our ladder position reflects this. The lack of cohesion as a group ends up with hoping for a fluke forward entries topped off with poor finishing.

I've had more than enough to say on Rayner of recent times but how he's allowed to fly fifth man up from the back of the pack when we were still in the game only to see his opponent sweep it away TWICE and not get dragged is a poor reflection on how he's coached. Either that or he's tone deaf.

Among other things, that Melbourne game gave me false hope that maybe we'd changed our mentality to nailing tackles instead of the corralling thing we did.

Today, I saw plenty of corralling and when we did go into tackles it was half arsed and like we didn't want to be doing it.

I thought somewhat the opposite. When you close in too hard for a tackle your opponent can break it easily as long as they can move laterally. I thought that happened in the centre way too many times today, players went all in and got sidestepped easily.

This team is pretty bad at closing the distance to be able to lay an effective tackle. We looked better defensively when we worked back and didn’t constantly outnumber ourselves.

It’s certainly about a balance and like against Geelong so many times we got burnt because our players thought the opposition would fold up like a lawn chair when approached.

Just not sure how you cover the defensive weakness we have in Rayner, Bailey and Mcluggage.

None offer enough to make tackles stick and just opens huge holes in the middle of the ground.

The way the Hawks walked through us today should make us reassess positional roles and personnel with brutal realism.

How good is Logan Morris developing. I recon he is going to be a player! I recon Brain is too based on the glimpses during last 2 weeks.
Morris showed composure in the contest on a few occasions today. You can't teach that so to see a potential KPF with that attribute at his age we need to keep persevering with him.

With Hipwood back Rayner has to make way for him.

I'm happy to take bets now if anyone thinks that's any hope of happening.

Logan has got great forward craft. Knows where the goals are and knows how to kick them. Was sad he didn’t take a shot from fifty in the last quarter.

Two things you can lock in every year. The Hawks will beat us and Rayner will continue to stink it up.

Charlie's goal kicking doesn't look like it's just confidence. Surely he has some kind of ankle/foot injury to be missing goals the way he is. It's not like he's just missing, it's a long way off at times.

Poor day out for the match committee and the coaches. No excuses for picking Ryan if they had seen him in the reserves. Slow and cumbersome and couldn't take a grab even when they reverted back to bombing the ball on top of the forwards heads. Needing run then not picking Sharp to start looked foolish as the ground looked too big for us when our midfield wasn't getting carved up through the middle of the ground.

Charlie looks unhappy when he's going well so it's hard to tell if there's a physical issue . He did try hard again today but just can't nail set shots and doesn't seem to have the burst he had to break clear.

Fagan still thinks Rayner's 20 and needs encouragement.

The first one you could hear it, sounded like it hit somewhere on the outside front of his boot. Nowhere near middle of the foot.
