This is one of the games where Gibbs lines up on Goddard and takes the points again. ;)

Wouldn't mind seeing Robbo play with him for a while.

I like HBF's suggestions of Gibbs on Watson and Curnow on Stanton. Shut those two down (easier said than done of course as Watson is serious quality) and I don't think Essendon could really win a game of footy.

I've heard rumours that the top dog at ASADA is a blues supporter, and may be tempted to leak some stories to the media this week regarding the progress of the investigation.

Will Howlett be back?

Saw a Rohan Connolly tweet that said Howlett's absence against Sydney shouldn't be underestimated...

Curnow to Stanton looks right after he played on him the last two games.

Not arguing that Gibbs won't get Watson, but he usually goes well on Goddard. Think Cachia might get BJ if Carrazzo doesn't play. Need a big body with good endurance to play on the ex-Saint.

No you haven't.

The thought of losing to drug cheats makes me sick in the stomach. I hope we are ruthless from the outset and play in a manner that shows them that drug cheating is unacceptable.

Would you believe a friend consulted a psychic who said big things are happening at the airport this week?

No?

How about someone from a foreign call centre phoned me and definitely mentioned the words 'performance', 'plan' and 'cell'?

I think negating Walker will be a big focus of the Bombers this week. Would not mind the Silver Fox sending Walks into the forward line to start with to throw them right out. Perhaps send yaz back to run and carry.

Then get Carlisle to sit under a high ball...

Cool, we could win and prove a moral point.....sounds like an episode of Happy Day's!! Surely Juddy is the Fonz?? :D

I wonder, if Menzel keeps his place, with Betts coming back in, does that mean we can afford both Walker and Yarran off a half back flank. I don't think we will see this this week but at some stage in the future I think we will.

Bell + Cachia have to start on the ground on Friday night against Essendon, Cashboult stays in the kid can take some strong pack marks and he really crunches packs, that's what we need. I am 90% certain that Carazzo won't play this week, he lacks any sort of match fitness, so I think Cachia might get the job on Watson. I think Bell struggled on Saturday because he was the sub and didn't get time to get into the game, Menzel as the sub this week.

I did think about that, but Watson is far superior in the way he influences games than Goddard.
Goddard gets a fair bit of the footy, but his days of hurting the opposition with those numbers are behind him.

Friday night is prime time for Gibbs and Murphy to stand up and assert their dominance in a big, big game. No more getting upstaged by inferior opposition midfielders.

All of a sudden I have a very good feeling about this one.

Hope Menzel keeps his spot.

We'll have the better team on the park but the question is whether we yet have the better game.

Essendon have a system that's served them relatively well so far this year and we're still trying to work into ours.

Certainly nice to have Betts and Judd back for this one. The more experience, the better

As amazing as it sounds, Essendon have to figure out how to best utilise their tall forwards and which combination works the best for them. Problem is, Hurley is injured, Gumbleton is struggling to find form, and Crameri beats up old the weaker teams and struggles against the better ones.

You'd almost consider going with a forward line on Carlisle, Crameri and Ryder/Bellchambers and brining in Pears.

Fev no longer plays for Carlton. Pears isn't needed. If I were Essendon I'd bring in Daniher for his first game.

However, I hope Essendon bring Hurley, Howlett and keep Dempsey in the team. Pound away at 'em hard and early. Give them their own treatment. They've always been a team that loved to dish it out but quick to go to pieces and cry when it was dished back at them. It'd be a disaster for them if they had 2-3 important players unable to play out the game.
