2024 is still all systems go. 2025 will be handing the torch over for sure. By that stage we may be missing 7 at least from our 2023 best 22: Dangerfield, Hawkins, Duncan, Smith, Tuohy, Stanley and Rohan. Maybe Bews, maybe Blicavs? The core of the rebuild has already been done in terms of drafting. We'll be relying on the group of 24-year olds to improve from here and the under 22 players to come on. But we've got the following players having just turned 25 or under who have shown a bit at AFL level:
Bowes, Parfitt, Simpson, Z Guthrie, Close, Ratugolea, J Henry, Stengle, Miers, De Koning, Bruhn, O Henry, Holmes and Knevitt.
That's a good core to start but we need a handful to go on to be stars. Then we've got talented younger players who hopefully come on, especially guys like Clark, Conway, Dempsey and Neale who we clearly rate highly.
We'll probably hit the wall with the current older players at the end of this year or next. It might take us a couple of years to develop the quality and cohesion and bring in a few high quality trades or free agents to really challenge again. But the core for our next flag shot is there.
We have nobody elseStrong whiff of late change. Two mids out, zero mids in.

Club has lost the plot!! You have no midfielders left and you drop Knevitt who has been ok and rest Simpson, then you bring in an Irishman who is so far off AFL level its not funny
No Rohan...
(sigh)
Genuinely shaped to be the most important inclusion for this week. I get you don't risk him if he's not right. But the way teams are waltzing the ball out of our front half at the moment is deeply concerning.
I agree, but only insofar as not naming the half back line Tuohy O’Connor Mullin.Club has lost the plot!! You have no midfielders left and you drop Knevitt who has been ok and rest Simpson, then you bring in an Irishman who is so far off AFL level its not funny, taking the piss
Ratugolea, Kolo, De Koning and J.Henry in the same team - oh my! Room for two Henry's AND two tall forwards in the forward line.Irish recruit Oisin Mullin is set to make his AFL debut as the Cats welcome back another two notable inclusions to face GWS Giants on Saturday.
One of the best defenders in the Gaelic Athletic Association in recent years and a two-time winner of the GAA Young Footballer of the Year award, Mullin has been named at half-back for Geelong after impressing at VFL level in his introduction to Australian Rules football.
Sam De Koning and Ollie Henry are both set to return from injury to bolster the Cats' stocks as they prepare to host the Giants in Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
It will be the first opportunity Henry has had to play alongside older brother Jack Henry in an official match since joining Geelong.
Max Holmes (injured), Ollie Dempsey, Mitch Knevitt (both omitted) and Sam Simpson (rested) are Cats' outs.
The Cats' substitute will be named one hour prior to first bounce on Saturday.
Geelong takes on GWS Giants at GMHBA Stadium on Wadawurrung Country this Saturday. First bounce is at 4.35pm. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 3.45pm for a special Sir Doug Nicholls Round performance from ARIA award-winning artist Budjerah, presented by Larrakia Bilirra.

Clearly the club disagrees with your assessment of Mullin's readiness for AFL footballClub has lost the plot!! You have no midfielders left and you drop Knevitt who has been ok and rest Simpson, then you bring in an Irishman who is so far off AFL level its not funny, taking the piss
Toby will kick 10 if that happensI agree, but only insofar as not naming the half back line Tuohy O’Connor Mullin.
Love to see him lining up (on) Toby
Holmes is the only out this week that plays predominantly in the midfield
Knevitt has been playing more in the forward line then the midfield, same as Simpson
With the inclusion of Mullin, it likely indicates O'Connor into the guts which is a better move at the moment than Knevitt in there
