Have to thank Gresham for his solid contribution to date but it’s time to look at the bigger picture and cull to finance 2 top liners. Although his 3rd average is 110, he can be a volatile scorer and I don’t see him being a top 6-8 forward points wise from rds 13-23, especially with so many other dpp players coming into the fold.

OUT: Gresham Daicos McCartin
IN: English Stewart Dean

Ok kenties I've done some mucking around and have come up with these trade ideas.

Thoughts?

Daicos, Preuss and Heeney out

Darcy, English and Worner in (can't afford anyone else)

7 trades left.

Next week -

De Koning > Wehr via Hamilton (goes forward) via Worner (goes to mid bench)

McCartin > Sinclair

Leaves me then with 5 trades left but still F6 to upgrade.

Hayes > 102k R\F
MRJ > best forward available

Have to wait till MRJ makes more money though so might have to loop MRJ and McComb via Hamilton for a bit.

I feel like I wont be able to compete without Darcy and English and who knows if Preuss will even be back round 13.

Should I go with the above trades or am I'm better off sticking to my other plan by keeping Preuss and upgrading De Koning to Gresham as a cheap F6 with a complete team and 6 trades left?

Team below with above trades done.

Whats going to piss you off more ?

Preuss getting a 123 next week as he wasn't selected last week because of lingering effects from illness?
or
Preuss not being selected next week because coach rates Flynn higher ?

Next week you'll know either way.

I was going to bring Gawn in for him, may still do so, just not this week, can you do something else till you know or unlike me are you Nostradamus ?

That's the thing mate unless I have access to a crystal ball I just don't know what those kents at GWS are thinking about when it comes to Preuss.

Spike McVeigh might hate Preuss and not rate him like you said and then I will be fooked!

Knowing my luck though Preuss will come back round 13 and Darcy will do a hammy round 13 and be out for 6 weeks.

I'm going to wait till next week and I have a few more trades and less issues than you,If you can keep a 110avg player while upgrading your other lines overall it will be better for you.
I've driven myself nuts this week with constant team changes till I have found something that works for me.

Just thought of another option that I could do.

Instead of bringing in Darcy this week I can bring in Joel Jeffery and have $228,900 in the kitty to go towards my 6th forward when the time comes.

If Preuss is back next week then I just go De Koning > Wehr and McCartin > Sinclair

I like that better
Big tick For Sinclair.
Bigger tick for Jeffrey, I got him last week, basically cause he just looks so assured and belongs.
Biggest tick for sending Hayes away instead of Preuss,-assuming he plays, with a low BE will make more cash and make it easier to trade later if needed.

This is an excellent summary of the situation, and definitely not a rant 👍👍.
Have ended up holding on to Whitfield, Ridley, Coniglio types and riding out their lean patches in the hope they'll come good or be good enough that they don't warrant trade-out prior to completion of the side.
Just have to hope that that plus the odd trade in reserve hold one in good stead on the run home vs others who might run out of petrol.
In terms of Heeney and Zorko types, it's an interesting one - seem to be a lot looking to offload them, but, for me at least, they'd be holds.
I suppose a lot feel the need to act now or miss the boat on English, e g , who is at least bye-neutral vs Heeney. Understand the appeal tbf, but you can't get all the topliners across all the lines for the most part, better off dancing with who 'brung you'.
Cheers gutsroy, my 5000 word dissertation’s vs others 2-3 liners confuses my inner critic.

I think the 3 prong ruck idea is on everyones mind. Have one up forward and uber coverage late season. Thats the English move, it just makes sense.

Played around with trades tonight and did a count back on trades to make a ‘finished side’ vs ‘perfect finished side’. And cash gen will restrict perfect side due to price increase.

Early season I estimated $14.5mil would be needed and it’s pretty close being approx $15.2mil team value needed with ok bench coverage.
My team has stalled at 13.7 mil which seems to be one premo short of some top teams being into the 14mil’s.

With 12 rounds left(more than we have had) there is a full cycle of cash generation. Minus the trades needed to do it though. But a full cycle could see a totally different Top 6/8/2/6 coming up.

I find it boring when consensus is used to make decisions in a strategy game like this. The only differentials coming in starting team structure or when moves are made (early vs late).
Lemming’s make more of their own decisions.

So my point. Do I have one? I think I do!

Teams will either hover or rise or fall based on consensus or being different. But glory is only for the brave.
“Edit note” : this is what happens when you start to believe your own BS your writing is poignant..

Shit thats not my point now I sound like a poor mans version of Yoda.

Ok I’m banning myself til after the bye carnage and the dust has settled.

Cheers mate, it's good to get great constructive feedback. :thumbsu:

I don't think he is. I think with your set up you are best served to play one of your 7 premo defenders in midfield and upgrade other spots instead of sideways trades (I'm guessing that's what has hurt you so far). Mountford can help you cover 2 lines with that d7 slash mid. I would honestly be going Anderson in your position and Himmelburg next week maybe.
Who would you trade out for Anderson?

-MRioli to $102K RUCK/FWD MSD saviour :padlock:
-Durdin to English :padlock::padlock:

then if McComb gets dropped and we have a rd14 bye green dot, I'll probably pounce to build the bank for next week, and also in the hope they play next week

When do the newbies get added?

I need some RCK/FWD bargain basement kent who can channel the spirit of Cain Ackland and might actually get a game.

In case not yet posted, new mif-,season pickups.
Most should be 102k (Durdin prob not, e.g.).
Teakle with the DPP shapes as a potential inclusion for those wanting English FWD but as swing able ruck cover....

Teakle it is.

Although i don't think the bloke is remotely close to getting a game for Paer

Also, surely all prices should be 102k or less. If these kents come back with Culley being 150k i'm going to leg sweep someone.
Shame the leg sweep will be going back into the cupboard, not gunna lie.
Heard she's artistically ambitious AND lethal.

Hayes > Teakle
Heeney > Darcy

R14
Preuss > English

Preuss's cash gen will match English's rise if they both play next 2 rounds, and Darcy adds in an extra R13 premo. Gonna be a tough watch on Friday though 🙈
