100% agree its now or never on english

my biggest issue is giving up the def/fwd identical twins who provide the most heart warming security on the bench with a big e on them..

i dont want to go full premo with wehr and some rook as my only def cover with no dpp swings anywhere else.

but i neeeeeed the cash from them.

fehk this long game crap but im gonna have to wait for my current cows to moo and some better rookies to becomes available before i start upgrading because ill lose sleep without paddy and sdk.

Think we have been on the same page for a few weeks thinking about keeping SDK and Paddy as bench bookends at all costs.

And Im about to flip the script on it.
I reckon you only need one post byes, instead grabbing a DEF/FWD $102K for swing coverage and loophole.
Chances of needing to cover a fwd and def late out same round is (touchwood) slim.
Weaker D8/F8 also adds coverage, if they ever play again, I’m looking at you Hamilton.

This week Im using SDK+Daicos+Hayes to get in Hodor+ 2Rooks. (Hodor timing just right and may pass by after this week.)
For bank and to swing English fwd for a sort of completed line there.
Next week I will downgrade Dixon to lowest price Fwd/Ruck and upgrade Reid to Sinclair moving Paddy or Kiddy to bench.
By then I will be down to 6 Trades and heaps still to fix up but gonna have to accept it(Heeney, Zorko, T.Green, Cogs) may get to one or two around finals.

I think the philosophy of highest points on field sooner vs bench security is always a tough one. But if the cow moo’s you have to listen to it.
Those 40-60 point gains too hard to ignore.
Risking 75pt avg + security to get a player scoring 140’s every so often and avg 110-120 coming home has to be worth it.

I loved the plan until I realised it may take til round 16-17 for other cows to reach $350K needed for upgrades, and thats if they stay on the park and continue averages. 5 out of 12 remaining round’s burnt. That swayed me to now or never.

Edit: now I have to work out which child I love the least. SDK or Paddy.
Might keep SDK as fixture looks better.

my thoughts exactly. i like the idea of a cheap dpp rook. id keep paddy personally as he has a higher avg and more exp. but hes more prone to miss a game. wayne bought it up a while ago. keeping paddy is good for the soul as everyone wants to see him do well. the cash tied up in both of them is too hard to have sitting on the bench whilst everyones going full premo.

Already regretting the Tich trade. Should have waited for Zerrett but got too impatient and wanted points now!

All I have are two questions...

Jeffrey - does Jeffrey makes most sense as a trade down option?

I'll need to do the maths, but still think I can get the players in I want over the byes by downgrading to him.

We all thought the 90 odd with 5 goals was too good to be true, plus his bye hurt with all the Dogs and Swans players up forward.

But he backed that up with a 1 goal, 11 disposal 90 odd performance again, and then has North at the exact same venue this week!

It'll hurt my byes a little, I might only get 17 in for R13, but I think playing the long game with him might be the smart move. It might also give some life to Rosas!

Zorko - what are owners doing with him?

I'm really keen to rage trade, and with all my defender premos in either R12 or R14, and with Wehr the likely downgrade option for SDK, I can comfortably hold Stewart who I don't have.

Byes are a critical time with cash movement, so I think the time to swoop on this is now.

I only have two midfield spaces left to fill, one of which is going to Mills after his bye, the last one I'm happy to wait on Steele falling in price.

It's never as bad or as good as it seems in SC. Pruess could be back post bye and pump out tons again. Witherden and Titch will be fine.

Peenie should be on the never again list. Wasn't fooling me even with his early season form I still traded in Parker instead when he bottomed out.

I've been on the same page as you both, super keen to keep both of them because I think having solid bench coverage in terms of both scoring and job security is key this year. I've desperately wanted them both to stay and fill that role. But the other cows have been terrible the past few weeks so I'm gonna need to get the cash from one of them.

I'm not too fussed by it, because McComb has stepped up as reasonable scorer and looks to have good job security, so ideally he can be F7 covering late outs, Voss can be my F8 for swing (already grabbed him weeks ago to snatch 100 points off the bench as one of my more "only think about now" plays of the year). DeK (I'm leaning towards keeping him out of the two) sits at D7 for late outs, but if there's a known out in the FWD line coming into the weekend I'll swing him forward.

It all looks good, the issue is D8. I've got nobody for there at the moment, doesn't look like much other than Wehr coming up (not sold on him), so at I'll be stuck with Voss at D8 and no swing for a while until one pops up. Not an issue in the byes while structure is shot anyway, but come round 15 I want someone. Is there a defensive rookie you can see coming through?

I was originally going to bring in budget priced Petracca, but its super unlikely he reaches a BE of 167 this week, so he'll probably fall another $30k or so after this weekend.

I was also wanting to move Smith forward and Houston back so my field starts to resemble its final iteration, but that'll have to wait another week.

Given the fact we haven’t got within 50 point of an opponent since Round 4 I’d hope we don’t just have older blokes roll into the side in place of youngsters who might actually have a part to play for the side in the coming years. But previous data suggest you’re probably right

This is why I’m hesitant to trade Hayes this week. I want to see Preuss named round 13.
