Smaller, quicker backline with Joyce out. Brown stays in to play on 2MP.

Too many small forwards, Young makes way.

Phillips out allows Newnes & Billings to play further up the ground.

Acres in for chop out ruck & allows Bruce to remain forward.

Very strange comment. Bad night? You come out with a comment knocking his body shape like it was a current body shape. I asked a simple question. I was serious with the question and now all of sudden you tell me it’s a body shape from playing 8 weeks ago. Weird. And then even worse you say some smartarse comment about me asking him.

I asked for a simple reason. A friend of mine saw him out the other day having a meal and said he didn’t look great. That was the reason I actually texted him the other day. I thought you may have seen a picture or actually saw him. I would have thought it was a reasonable question that could have answered in the first post but you were the one who just didn’t give a straight answer. Sorry that I’m genuinely interested in jacks welfare.

I wasn’t suggested he wasn’t interested in Steven’s welfare. I’ve got to say I can’t believe I’m the bad guy just asking a simple question. Poke the bear? Really. Anyway I now know that we haven’t seen a photos or anyone but my friend has seen him. I just hope he has sorted a few things out And can play in 2 to 3 games. Just for his health.

Nothing would surprise me this week selection wise. And I don't mean that in a bad way. The safe route is to play Hanners and King in the VFL again and also have minimal changes. Am sure they will look at how they all shape up after a week off. Hanners and King may have done extra work.

Game we have to win if we have aspirations. I remember back before the China trip that it was said Jack Steven had been angling to come back. They told him to leave it until after the bye.

Time to be bold. If not this week then certainly next.

Its time to be bold , maybe ? Stupid well i hope not, Hanners said himself he will need at least one game if not Two in the VFL , so he and the club do all the work to get him right and then we just say f---k it we will play him anyway . I think not.
Not sure this week is as dire as some may think , its not like we are pushing for top 4 or even close to the 8 , relax

I have heard King will debut Round 15 against Richmond. Silly for the club to debut him in an interstate game where the commercial aspect of the occasion won't benefit the club as much as it would a home game - plus, home games would allow for more Saints supporters to see him. And it's Maddies Match so there's that added incentive too. I hope he plays ASAP obviously.

Webster should be back. I'm hopeful on Carlisle but think he is still another couple of weeks.

Training is Tuesday and main is Thursday so we'll get a better look then.

Yep as others have said we would be stupid to play hanners this week after not even playing three quarters last week. Just out of interest do you really think kings debut would have a big impact on the gate. Obviously you do but how much. Do people really go to see a new high pick. Yeah even Dan himself said he will have another go in the VFL (full game) before putting himself up for selection.

I think it would have some impact, yeah. There's going to be people who say who cares just play him if he's ready, why pander to fans etc and I can see that but if I were the club I'd try to make the most out of it. If no injuries to Bruce, Membrey or any other key forward and there's no rush then I'd say it's a good idea to pick a game for him to debut in. There's a lot of hype around him, if he were to debut against Richmond at Etihad in Maddies Match I can easily see upwards of 45,000 going.

Seriously I'd prefer low key Townsville rather than building the hype on a first gamer. You'd hope we are a better club than Melbourne.

Interesting to look at The Age top players votes- the top 37 vote winners (31-68 votes) don't feature a Saint, and the top 8 goal kickers don't feature a Saint. Pretty much shows that none of our players have really busted a gut this season and played top consistent footy. The midfield seems to be VFL standard, and the forward line is a collection of headless chickens. Thank goodness for Roma, Battle and Wilke and occasional bursts from Gresham- the rest you can raffle off.
