I guess a positive to take away is that we get 2 byes in the second half of the year, whereas they don't get a break. Which hopefully will help us freshen up a bit and reset during the time we normally hit a wall.

We don't, the AFL counted Round 0 as our second (technically first) bye.

So we play 13 games - bye - 10 games.

Sydney play 5 games - bye - 6 games - bye - 11 games.

Ah pretty sure we only get 1 bye.

"Round zero" was our technical first bye, along with 9 other teams.

Langford still a chance but I'd be reluctant to play him. Think it's more important we are in good shape and firing after the bye then this game.

Agreed.

This game means **** all in the grand scheme of things, after all we won last years and looked like we were going to get Voss sacked and they ended up winning two finals.

The once extremely daunting rounds 16-18 versus Cats, Dees and Pies looks nowhere near as bad at this stage, like the Suns game at home versus this game (until our injuries piled up).... I'm actually more worried about the dockers this stage than any of the round 16-18 games. Cats are done, Dees are coked and Pies are falling apart and are are a end of season injury to Daicos away from giving the dockers a top ten pick

We actually should have won last week with our dominance early. We almost snatched it against a team that rarely loses at home with humid/slippery conditions that we never play in.

Hoping the players come out breathing fire. Hind looked filthy at losing in his post match interview.
Caldwell and Lav looked absolutely gutted post match too.

Why I'd also leave goldy out. With bye to come this our mid season freshen up. Pretty good last week but list looks tired and if a few are carrying niggles so chance to freshen up.

I also wouldn't mind shiel for heppel
If it's just a corked hip he should be fine to play with some pain meds, it's not like it'll be at risk of turning into an injury.

I'd rather be playing Carlton coming off a loss than a win. I'd also rather be playing them before the bye than after.
Remember the curse of the bye last year? I think almost every team except a handful won post their bye.

I've got a feeling we will see a quite heavy tag on Merrett from Cincotta, they've been using him quite well to shut down certain players recently. I hope Brad's has a contingency plan to keep Zach effective if it happens.
And it'll be Williams on Marto. I think last year Merrett was tagged and it wasn't until Brad sent him forward that he got a bit more touch.

Yeah freo scares me too. People are sleeping on them. Just depends on what style of footy they decide to play on the day.

I read somewhere on another thread that every team apart from Syd has lost their next game after playing Freo.

Edit: (checks fixture) Ess v Suns round 22 at marvel stadium

If we lose against the blues does that mean we lose after the bye as well?

Edit: Eagles have bye when we do also so that cancels that out.

Sydney play 5 games - bye - 6 games - bye - 11 games.

I guess the season is panning out just the way the AFL would like then...
