Note to CFC Club:

Dear Pies - you have one (critical) task next Monday. Put simply it is - smack the ars#s of your insufferable opponents - the entire dreadful mob - supporters, players., coaches etc

Run like deer and hunt like there's no tomorrow - they won't like that.

You work hard to get the ball inside our F50 - please don't waste shots at the end of your hard work.

Pie fans at the ground will take care of their tragic lot - have trust.

Win this one and it's a great platform for the next few games as our injured players come back.

Love youse all (you know that)

In you all we trust

NMBB

It fills me with confidence that freo beat them by just about 100. We could do the same thing if we play at our best.
What the hell happened there?
Just a bad one?
Full house at g and them fired up is different to unacclumitised in Alice. Will be a tough game.
Our defence can hold them to a low score. Need avenues to goal from the mids and am confident

After winning the GF, definitely would not have predicted that the KB game would be between 9th & 10th this year

Would love to see Krueger come in, get a few good games under his belt, and hopefully people will stop making jokes about his being injury prone. I mean, I get it, his history isn't great, but does everyone need to make the same joke? Get some original material.

Might get some older heads back too, which will really be beneficial. I kind of feel like all our leaders are in defence rn, and it may have played a part in our system shutting down in the last quarter against the doggies.

Dees had a shocker, but we also have a point to prove with two disappointing results in a row. Need to get out kicking boots on, as teams that can kick a big score against Melbourne generally win, as the dees don't have much up forward.

It's a strange one seeing as we are only 6 points off 2nd, and a better % than 2nd spot.

I don't disagree that he hasn't been great - but I think the persistence will be there for Dean. With Murphy gone and Howe getting older, we are extremely thin on KPD's, and with Dean only being 4 games into his career, at this stage I think coaching committee will back him in to improve.

Thats fair, I can see an investment in the future in Dean, although I dont find his profile of skills and strengths particularly compelling, he could become serviceable.

No doubt AJ is in horrific form, and is not deserving of an AFL game above any one else. But no-one doubts he has some high level traits.

Anyway Dean has looked awful at times. If I picked a team for next week Id prefer Howe, Moore and and Frampton as our tall backs, and I'm not nearly as fussed about who our tall forwards are, given the limited choices.

Best not to have a closed mind or you miss out on moves like Hayden Young or Ed Richards to midfield from defence

We cannot play the same midfield again on Monday - or we will see the same last quarter fade out due to a reliance on too few
Id like to see Maynard as our 4th quarter specialist in the midfield
just bring him in if we are leading and he can keep it in tight and shut down the game

I think many posters are being super harsh on Chaz Dean. The young lad misses the better part of 2 years of Footy which is tough for any player. Gets thrown to the wolves early in the year when we were a rabble. Has shown growth in his game upon his return but people are expecting him to be something he's not right now. There's definitely scope for a lot of improvement to come. It wouldn't shock me at all if Howe goes forward and Frammers back, to allow us to keep Dean in the side in the short term.

I agree. I'd definitely keep Charlie in this week. I don't get the criticism of him from the Doggies game.

Big Bill will be needed to help out in ruck this week, so Dean will definitely be needed down back during those times. And as you say, it gives us the flexibility to move Howe forward if needed.

Particularly if Freddy comes in & we need extra insurance in case he doesn't make it through the game.

Thinking that McInnes and Kreuger come into the forward line, Frampton down back. Dean selected as Sub, so when he comes on, we have alot of possiblities: Howe to forward line, or Frampton straight into a full second ruck role, or Dean as the next tall to replace an injured Kreuger!!
Not criticising Dean's game against the Dogs, just think that we should definitely bring McInnes in (assuming he is availabele), WHE in, and Kreuger as a tall in F50 to accompany McInnes. I think Dean would be a much better choice for sub than Parker because of the flexibility it would give.

Agree that both Reef & Freddy are needed in the forward line.

Only looked back at the last 3 Demons games stats to see their second ruck at the moment appears to be either Van Rooyen or Petty, and each only ever seem to go in and win 3 or 4 hit outs for the game. So either both are relatively useless as ruck relief or just don't need to go in much.

If there was ever an opportunity to let Kreuger play ruck/fwd with minimum ruck competition/time... this is it.

The last few times we've played Melbourne they've just kicked long from 70m to 20m out. The long bomb seems to be our strength as a team defense but it's Dean's biggest weakness, so I'd be surprised if he stays in.

There's probably a very mild temptation to trial Frampton relief rucking out of the backline and simply following Petty/JVR all day but I'd say we'll keep the norm and make Kreuger ruck so that Frampton stays parked under the ball if the Dees gain ascendency during their Petty/VR ruck stint. And you need a forward target... is Reef enough?

Wouldn't even be surprised if WHE comes in for Noble again ala the 2023 finals. Could be a good match up for Fritsch. That said Noble has been good this year (until Friday night) and probably has some credits in the bank.

Kreuger for Dean

WHE for Parker

Reef for Bytel

Macrae lucky to stay in, becomes sub.

Probably missed someone or something...

Only Melbourne player to kick multiple goals against us in the final last year, he’s good enough that he demands a good opponent and that they are accountable for him at all times.

Yes, and has everyone forgotten that Fritch kicked 6.2 in a winning Grand Final? That’s as elite as it gets! He’s such a sharpshooter than he only needs 6-8 touches to win a match. It would be a huge mistake to underestimate him.

It was 18 degrees and low humidity. Regardless, the Dees fcukin stink.

Yes I know that now. I made an assumption on their lack of effort and they looked exhausted. I assumed Alice heat but 18 degrees! Seriously they were walking and look dis interested.
